Doubt that ownership would fire him now after hiring him a matter of months ago. Doesn't look good for those keeping up appearances. But the starting pitching is awful, made up of guys he brought in. Not his fault about Sale and E-Rod. But he has so far botched up the replacement roster. Would you rather Martin Perez (1/6) or Rick Porcello (1/10) right now? Neither, if I had my choice. And not Ungodley either.

I will hate Bloom and curse him til the day he dies for trading Mookie, but.... no. He hasn’t done anything that wasn’t a response to the situation he found on arrival. Let’s see what he does for a couple years before deciding. Also, let’s how Nick Yorke works out. That was a head scratcher for some people, but the Sox seem to believe in the kid. If he hits, it looks like genius. If not, we can look back on it as a bad pick. But that needs time. Demainah I was born and bread in Maine. I still have siblings and immediate family there. I recognize you as an ardent and emotional fan and salute you for that. But Mookie was going to test the waters no matter what we (the Sox) offered. And, with financial penalties far in excess of his contract (if he had signed), it wasn't feasible. Inherently you know that. And Mookie could see that if he did sign with Boston, there was going to be a period of rebuild given the likelihood of other jettisoning of salaries in offset and a poor farm. He held the cards. Going to LA not only got him the highest bucks but a multiple near term opportunity for championships that the Sox could not match. Chaim has not been given a chance to which, if you were honest with yourself, would agree. He was a major part of an organization that made a chicken s__t payroll into a chicken salad team that is far superior to the Sox with a top payroll. I think that your devotion to the Sox, while admirable, colors your powers of calm reason. We are at the bottom. Embrace and enjoy the ride up. It's going to be fun.

Tell me, with 0 available dollars (in actuality, negative dollars), what would you have to to fill the rotation? Should he have gotten Cole to sign for 10 years for just the love of the game? Don't have a blueprint. Just looking at the sorry excuse for starting pitching he brought to this team. No, I wouldn't have given Cole a ten year contract. And it's folly that he would have done so "for the love of the game". You're right he should've signed affordable but proven talent like Colin McHu.... oh.

With Sale, E-Rod, and Eovaldi healthy and in the rotation and (hopefully) another addition, I don't mind that as a number 5.

Current voting results: 19-1. Thats a worse record than....Bloom's Red Sox Does that include mail in ballots? How can you look at everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, holding an opinion the opposite of yours and not stop to consider your opinion once? None of the other posters agree with you. None of the writers/staff, who I respect as baseball minds, agree with you. No one in the non-SP periphery has ever floated the idea that Bloom is doing a terrible job. It's JUST you. That doesn't strike you as a bit odd? You really think you're the only one who can see things clearly? If you actually provided any kind of logical reasoning at all for why he's so bad, then it'd be one thing. But you're just digging your heels in on your trash take with absolutely no legitimate evidence and not even attempting to listen to the hordes of people who don't agree. Just weird stuff, man.

People keep saying Sale, but he will not be full strength next season. Thank you, doctor. Well, I pitched and had it. Am not a doctor, but had the Mets’ team doctor do my elbow. Sale will likely need more time to get ramped up, and he’ll likely be on a close watch for innings and pitches. Or... you can blow out your big investment, again.

I would be reluctant to speculate on a recovery timeline unless I were a doctor, reviewed the X rays and MRIs and knew the player.

Everything will be fine! Did I say or imply that? All I said is that every person and his physical status is different and that we need expert advise based upon real medical evidence to set a date for a return to competition.

It goes both ways, yet Lackey pitched a 189 innings his first season back. He was also throwing harder than he ever did.

It goes both ways, yet Lackey pitched a 189 innings his first season back. He was also throwing harder than he ever did. Lackey had his surgery on November 1, 2011. Sale had his in March 2020. Pretty big four-plus-month difference. Sale almost certainly will start 2021 on the IL. He's probably back at some point during the year to be determined, but it's unrealistic to think he's good for Opening Day. Also, since this thread has nothing to do with the original topic at this point save to point out how the original premise is complete nonsense, we're done here. Folks can feel free to talk about the tangents elsewhere.
