I was just looking at Pivetta's numbers. He only pitched 5.2 innings before they shipped him down. That's not much of a tryout, his mechanics must be awful. When I think of awful mechanics, Andrew Miller and his time with the Marlins comes to mind whom Boston got as everyone remembers for nothing so many years ago and fixed. Miller couldn't repeat 2 windups in a row and would fall off the mound often. His FB velocity had fallen into the low 90's at the end of his Marlins tenure his mechanics were so messed up, as was his head from having so much shoved into it change wise. Let's hope Pivetta is nothing more than another Miller, who can be pushed back to what worked once before.

It was moving him to the bullpen that really helped him. Ditch trying to use 3-4 pitches and just focus on your best two.

Yep, focusing the pitch mix and streamlining the delivery finally turned him around. I think trying to get him on track as a starter made sense but they did the right thing when it didn't. Kinda goes without saying that Pivetta's raw stuff isn't what Miller's was, but it also follows that there's a lot of space to be worse than Andrew Miller's peak and still be very useful.

Looking forward to seeing where Seabold is slotted into the prospect rankings.

Looking forward to seeing where Seabold is slotted into the prospect rankings. Based on the scouting report that's posted, I'd expect him to be just ahead of or just behind Tanner Houck in the rankings.
