Can't imagine Osich getting anything of consequence back.

Why would anyone give up anything for him? I'll take anything.

Considering price paid for him, this is a great return on investment

Don’t know if the initial info came from the Cubs or the Rays. Guessing the Rays, but if the Cubs are giving out info we may hear about the PTBNL from the Osich trade. I’m not gonna hold my breath considering what Bloom said, but I guess it’s possible.

Does anyone know when PTBNLs can be announced? Dont know if it is after the world series, when the cubs get knocked out, or now considering alternate sites have ended.

Asked about it today O'Halloran mentioned they have 6 months. Not sure if he was just dodging the question or not, but maybe that one is a true PTBNL.

Osich was DFA'ed by the Cubs today.

Given that Osich threw a handful of innings for the Cubs and was DFA'ed, I can't imagine the Sox get much of anything at all for him. Maybe some cash? An organizational player?

IIRC Bloom said in the press conference after the trade deadline that they agreed on the PTBNLs with the Rockies and Cubs.

Could the player to be names later be a 2020 Cubs draft choice, thus they can not be named until after the world series?

3. A player who signs after being selected in the MLB Rule 4 Draft (First-Year Player Draft) or who was eligible for selection in the Rule 4 Draft but was not selected and who signs with an MLB club as a Non-Drafted Free-agent (NDFA) cannot be traded for at least 90 days or until after the conclusion of the World Series (no earlier than 9 AM on the day after the final game of the World Series), whichever comes last. NOTE: Previously, a player signed after being selected in the MLB Rule 4 Draft could not be traded until the first anniversary of the player signing his first contract.

I'm keeping modest expectations for the PTBNL because I think Osich was a player the Sox were going to DFA anyway. I wouldn't think he would be near the prospect Wallace is. Maybe someone who might make the boards top 60 near the back?

Maybe someone who might make the boards top 60 near the back? Well, for context, the Red Sox got Pereda from the Cubs for Lakins, who the Cubs were planning on trying to sneak through waivers. The Cubs were actually planning on using Osich, at least in the regular season, so you'd think you'd at least get someone a little bit better than Pereda. So maybe somewhere in the 40-50 range?

Osich cleared waivers. Not sure what that says about his value at the time, but worth noting that nobody grabbed him now.
