I am wondering about Yorke: dude certain appears to rake. How is his glove. The description makes him sound fine but not necessarily great. Is he a future outfielder? Seems like he could hit like one. I know it is early to move him from a position of great value, but I was curious about what folks who have seen him think his longterm position will be. I know the recent reports from the gang are that he’s improved at 2B and looks like he’ll be capable of playing the position. Not a GG guy there but can hold his own

Is there a place on the internet that is publishing how often A-ball batters are swinging at pitches outside the strike zone?

Is there a place on the internet that is publishing how often A-ball batters are swinging at pitches outside the strike zone? No, but teams all share that info privately and scout have access to it, so people with contacts can get all sorts of minor league trackman data (as far as I understand).

We thought he looked a lot better in camp (and he looks great physically). Not all scouts we've talked to agreed though, so opinions on this future at 2B are mixed.

Just to be clear, I wasn’t meaning anything critical. I always wonder about really young middle infielders because there is still so much possible development physically and they can grow out of those positions.

In SAL whiff% leaderboard, Nick Yorke ranks 20th in terms of the fewest swings and misses with 9.2% and he’s the only one who’s 20 yo in the Top 30.

Nick Yorke's last 36 plate appearances: .156/.250/.281/.531, 4 walks, 9 strikeouts
This was after he was pulled from the lineup for about five days.
He's got to still be hurt, no?

I don’t think that person really knows what they are talking about and just churns out a post like that weekly. Doesn’t seem to understand he’s been battling a back issue either. I legitimately think he pulled the “selling out for power” out of his ass. His performance can easily be explained by the fact he hasn’t been healthy pretty much the entire season.

Speier mentioned the other day that Yorke is also dealing with a knee issue in addition to the turn toe and back.

Interesting. I'm going to ask Alex about this because he says "turf toe and knee" and I understood it as turf toe and back. It definitely isn't saying the knee is a third injury. Edit: Alex messed up. It's supposed to say back.

Anyone know what has kept Yorke out for the last few games?
Toe? Back(knee)?

Unfortunately this season just has to be chalked up as a L all around for him. That happens. He just needs this season to be over get some offseason rest and get healthy for the beginning of next year. I wouldn’t even mind if they pulled him today for the rest of the year and let him get fully healthy.

I wasn't a fan of the pick, and I usually remain skeptical of most prospects until they reach AA, but he gets him a full mulligan for this year with all the injuries. He really only has that hit tool to carry him to the majors so that has to be significant with everything else being average or less. Hopefully, he heals, adjusts and advances, but they may make him repeat high A for at least half a season, which may drop him out of MLB Prospect Top 100 lists.

Guessing it's probably a year too early, but any chance Yorke is an AFL guy this year? If he's finally getting healthy would be nice to see some more reps.
