I’m a little confused about the lack of interest in his services league-wide. It seems to me that he has value as an above-average super-utility man, yet virtually nobody wanted him last offseason and I haven’t been able to find much news about him this offseason either. If his market is so dry, perhaps the Red Sox could get him on a cheap deal. He could provide a lefty bat off the bench, another option at second base, plus depth in the outfield (with all the uncertainty there) and infield. Thoughts?

He can play multiple positions although he's primarily a LH hitting 2b who can get on-base 36% of the time and costs practically nothing to pay. Plus I bet you he'd like to play in Boston. So why not sign him? I never though Peraza was going to be better than Holt. He proved that really quickly. I like Holt in a platoon with Arroyo, but it wouldn't have to be a straight platoon. If Arroyo shows he can hit, then he'd play more and Holt could be a solid lefty PH off the bench. I'm saying all this with the assumption that Kiké Hernandez will mainly be the CF, at least until Duran is ready. I don't see Holt coming back, though. Bloom didn't seem to want him last year and I don't think he'll want him this year either.

I love Holt, but he was pretty awful last year, is going to be 33 and likely lacks Kiké’s versatility — but would really be filling the same general roster slot. I assume he was in the list of super-utility and didn’t make the cut.
Has he had lingering concussion issues? I feel like that was a problem, but I may be remembering incorrectly.

They definitely need a LHH on the bench ideally one who can play 2nd. I can't say Holt would be my first choice but I wouldn't be against it either. Maybe if hes not signed come spring training he'd accept being an NRI. He'd have a good shot to make it if he's healthy.

I think a dismal ‘20 season may have torpedoed his perceived value. If Bloom thinks he has something left in the tank, I would be OK with bringing him back on a $1M or so deal but only with the expectation he is the 26th man. Anything else you get from him is a bonus. 4 man bench of Plaw, KH, Renfroe and Holt. Fill in at 2b and corner outfield. Not an ideal choice but maybe 20 starts at 1b against righties to give Dalbec a breather. Pinch hitter. Clubhouse presence. However, the poor ‘20 season and apparent lack of interest leads me to believe he might be seen as toast.

He was 100% overmatched last year and his -0.6 WAR tells me he will struggle to even find a MLB deal this time around. Kiké is the new Holt on the Red Sox anyway.
