Looks like the Sox had their Cheerios and Red Bull this a.m.
Approve.

This is a season ruining inning for Giolito, man. 2/3 of an inning, 6 runs, 42 pitches... so far. Good luck with the ERA.

So, again... lineup has Franchy and Refroe. And Marwin at SS. This means no lefty on the bench, no backup outfielder without moving the infield around... and Renfroe starting against a top righty. So for all the talk of platoons and splits, guys are clearly being used in less than optimal ways. Maybe he rakes today, but it does not make me feel better about not keeping JBJ. I like JBJ as much as anybody, but not for $12 million per year. The money could be better spent.

Marathon Monday game is always a blowout one way or the other.

I can't say that I would have predicted that epic start against Giolito. What an AB by Dalbec after 6 runs were in, a 14 pitch walk.
Epic...

I could do the negative WAR savings on this team to find you your $11 million!

Fair to say Giolito does not have it.
Add:
90.00 WHIP. Is that good?

LaRussa is a jerk for doing this to Giolito. He should have pulled him when it was obvious it wasn't his day.

Nothing like hanging your best pitcher out to dry... yikes Look, LaRussa didn't make the anti-Larussa rule that every pitcher has to go at least 3 innings [checks notes over beers after game] Oh.

Unlike Giolito, Burdi passes the Franchy test. You, sir, may look yourself in the mirror this eve.

La Russa is so negligent. 46 Pitches in the 1st inning and you bring him back out to start the second? He's drunk at the wheel once again. He and Jerry Reinsdorf must make great love each night..

It's a great way to endear yourself to the pitching staff.

It's a great way to endear yourself to the pitching staff. I mean, even beyond humiliating your number one, he sent a guy with zero out to cough up two more runs. 6-2 doesn’t feel nearly as awful as 8-2. One of my big takeaways from this series has been that the ChiSox are really good but really badly managed.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise to come home to. Giolito looked like one of the best pitchers in baseball before this, the Red Sox really destroyed him like that? This team surprises every day, mostly in a good way.

Yeah. Thank God we got Cora back. We’re in good hands.
This year could’ve been really ugly with a bad manager.

Eovaldi is sort of giving me Porcello 2016 vibes. A guy who has always been good but sort of always a ~3 starter getting all his ducks in a row and having a massive season.
