We're continuing to roll out our 2021 SoxProspects pre-season all-star voting for each position. Cast your vote for the second baseman in the Red Sox minor league system that you believe will have the best 2021 season. The idea is to vote for the player you predict will perform the best on the field, not who you consider to be the best prospect. Per usual, each player is eligible for only one position and thus will not appear on multiple polls.

I would think Downs is a 2b and Arauz is a SS? But maybe they won't be doing it that way in AAA? If so, I'd have voted for Downs.

Yeah, if you look at how they were used during spring training, Downs played exclusively shortstop while Araúz played twice as much at second base as at shortstop. I hear what you're saying, but for now, it looks like it's more likely Downs gets the lion's share of reps at short in Worcester and Araúz moves around to second and even third, which makes sense given his projection as more of a utility guy than a starting shortstop. |
