Still looks like Dearden could put on a substantial amount of muscle too

Dearden's hot start recognized over at MLB Pipeline in a list of hitters off to hot starts from each org:

Dearden with two more doubles last night giving him 9 through his first 100 High-A plate appearances. His 1.030 OPS currently ranks 5th in High-A (behind Granberg and Reed) and 2nd among players aged 22 or younger (behind top prospect Brett Baty). His K% is still at a healthy 33% so I expect the BA to come down, but he continues his combo of strong BB% and IsoP which are exactly the areas you want to be strong in to offset K concerns.

Nice DH for Dearden yesterday. OPSing .933, fueled by the development of his power and a 16.6 BB%. Thinking he should be considered for a big move up the rankings, and a possible promotion soon.

Podcast interview with Tyler Dearden. Full disclaimer: I haven't listened yet myself so I have no idea what's covered here:

His big year continues. I can't find footage of it, but he did this last night:
Here is footage of #21, the Greenville recording-tying HR:

Lavarnway, Jon Still, and Andrew Pinckney is a heck of a SoxProspects nostalgia crew.
For those who haven't been around:
Ryan Lavarnway: Think Chavis coming up, maybe, but he may or may not wind up being able to catch in the majors. Then in the majors for some reason he also stops hitting and can't catch.
Jon Still: Think rich man's Stephen Scott but by High-A he's basically just a DH and they've given up on him catching.
Andrew Pinckney: Think Devlin Granberg except he gets to Double-A and stops hitting, and he's also not really loved in the clubhouse and when he gets cut he gives an interview to Kevin Thomas and goes out shooting, absolutely furious he didn't get more of an opportunity (except, y'know, he kinda did).

3x SoxProspects POTY. The fact he didn't hit at all in MLB is baffling to me. Not necessarily that he didn't hit enough to be a DH or something, but like, I'd have thought he'd at least be a league-average bat who had a tough time getting into the lineup because of his defense. Anyway, the lesson here, for those who haven't been around the block - when the old heads are cautiously optimistic at best when guys like Dearden, Scott, Granberg, Davis, etc. have great offensive seasons without premier prospect profiles, the fact that, for example, the old Drive HR record was held by 3 guys, two of which didn't get past Double-A and one who is a AAAA catcher, is why.

Looking at the stat lines again after so many years, Lavarnway had a pretty promising first year in the majors, but his power disappeared after that - even at the minor league level.

I was never rooting against Lavarnway, because who roots against any prospect in any org, but I wasn't super psyched-up simply due to how aggressively and insistently that one guy posted about him. Seems like a similar story with the current guys, great stats but okayish from the guys who actually see them.

Honest question: Did Bobby V ruin Lavarnway's career?

Pinckney must have been a real jerk, he was actually a pretty decent hitter at every stop in his pro career
