Actually going to be Bello and Politi today (if they play.
Crawford tomorrow, German Saturday is the plan. We'll see if that happens.
"We really don't need the whole commercial break/warm-up routine every time a new reliever comes into the game. It certainly made sense in 1884 when they only switched pitchers when the starter was attacked by pickaxe or caught consumption, and no reliever was warming up because he was busy gambling and drinking." - JD
I still think I'm going to wake up and say "I shouldn't listen to the podcast before bed, I dreamed the Sox signed a guy from Curaçao named Charlie Zink." - KOC
Is there any information on Miguel Ugueto? He's the only position player from the 2019-2020 International Group that is starting the year stateside (Nathanael Cruz is the only other guy). He's not a guy that was signed as an older international guy. He's only a couple months older than the biggest bonuses from that class (September 2002 vs October and December 2002). Has there been any talk about him from instructs or scouts?

Espinal is the starter in either the continuation or 7-inning game. Still TBA in the other (likely just bullpen). Hart tomorrow, then Gossett and Houck this weekend.

This is helpful as the probables have been getting a bit more jumbled lately. Just watch the rain continue and mess all this up though.

When they start the skips it always gets wonky. Add the Olympic stuff and it gets even less predictable.

Honestly, at that level I'd almost rather the runs come on a couple solo shots than like 3 walks and a couple doubles (although rookie ball defense is always interesting). Nice debut. We heard he looked better (92-95) during XST.

Given that Liu is a tiny bit older for an FCL prospect, but is a former 2 way guy who took some time off pitching, what is a reasonable expectation for him this season?

Its a good question Adam....wish I knew more, but I've wondered the same thing.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Like how he should perform statistically? I'm not really sure there's a simple answer there if that's what you mean.
Regarding his age, I'm less concerned with results so much as progression. I think it makes sense for him to spend his first year in America in the FCL in a structured environment. I'm more concerned by, say, where he is at the end of next season. If he's still in Salem and struggling, yeah that would be a problem. If he's done well for some amount of time in Greenville or perhaps even Portland? Yeah, much better.

Ugueto wasn't at Instructs. He wasn't at minor league spring training but came up during extended, we think sometime in late May. Possible he impressed at the DR Academy and came up. Also possible they just had too many guys down there and he was the one who they felt was mature enough that he would be able to handle coming up to the US.

Not necessarily statistically precisely, but in terms of overall comfort and promotions. It's unreasonable to expect dominance but he should be pretty capable right? Would we expect his stuff to play at a level above most FCL hitters are able to deal with? Would it be reasonable to hope he could earn a promotion this season?
Yorke and Jimenez are both back for Salem. Still no Rafaela. Lopez is out for the 2nd day in a row. Just a guess but he took a HBP to the foot on Tuesday so maybe he’s hurt.
We’ve got a window where we might be able to get this game in so the teams are giving it a shot.

Rosario with his first home run of the season! This Portland vs NH game has been really fun. Bello looked very good in my opinion and Castellanos continues to swing a hot bat.
Wu-Yelland sitting 94-96, touching 99 in the first inning. Looks to be working on his fastball early. Didn’t see a single breaking ball or offspeed pitch in the 1st inning.
Edit add: Through 2 innings, he’s thrown 35 pitches and 35 of them have been fastballs.
