Nick Yorke with a multi-hit game already (and a BB). Average all the way up to .275.

Not that we care about the win stat, but the rule that the pitcher can't get the win if they don't make it through 5 innings is so stupid. Why must it be treated like "if he doesn't pitch 5 innings, someone else gets the win" when it should be treated like "if he doesn't pitch 5 innings, anyone can get the win"? Look at the Portland box tonight and explain to me why Thompson deserves the win more than Bello.

Nick Yorke will a multi-hit game already (and a BB). Average all the way up to .275. He's finishing the season in Greenville. No doubts. Amazing job by the scouting department in picking him against all odds.

Castellanos somewhat quietly up to .291/.372/.497 on the year. He's maintained the skill he's always had in contact (~16% K-rate) while getting to more power in games (.206 ISOp) and drawing more walks (~9% BB-rate) than he has previously.

I'd be curious to see if he's made swing/approach changes to actually tap into his raw power. Would exit velocity/launch angle/ground ball % rate changes this year compared to previous years indicate an actual increase of in-game power - and be more than just noise this season?

Thoughts from tonight’s game (trying to get to one more tomorrow night before the 4th of July weekend.
Wu-Yelland was working solely on his fastball for the first two innings. Didn’t throw any offspeed stuff until the third inning and wasn’t commanding it well. He left a lot of pitches out over the plate and got hit hard in the 3rd and 4th before being pulled. He held his velocity throughout the game and was still hitting 96-97 in the 4th.
I liked Casey Cobb when he was in there. He’s a guy that could probably handle Greenville now. Arredondo was fun with his funky delivery but wasn’t fooling anyone.
Yorke didn’t show much rust after being out for a few games. Solid line drive single, walk, beat out an infield single, and then got a hit taken away on a nice play by the Fredericksburg shortstop.
Nick Northcut likes Fredericksburg. He homered for the third game in a row.
I think Matthew Lugo is going to be a very good player. He hit the ball hard a few times including a long home run. As he gets older, these hard hit balls are going to go even further. He made a couple nice plays in the field but also booted a ball.
Jimenez didn’t do much. He didn’t hit the ball very hard in any of his ABs. His stance from the right hand side looked very similar to the left hand. The crouch wasn’t quite as pronounced, but it was definitely there.
