Today's game is a perfect example of why you don't trade high upside prospects for a mediocre player who is going to do nothing to help a team with essentially no starting pitching which would play in the post season. Bloom did a great job assembling the roster for this season but it was always going to be a bridge year. A lot of gamers and good chemistry but the starting pitching has been on a tightrope over thin ice all year and it was never going to hold up. It's unfortunate the team outperformed expectations as it would be much better if the Sox had been in a position to sell at the deadline.

lol, Eovaldi doesn't play in the postseason is quite the hot take.
So like, deGrom is the one pitcher in the world good enough to pitch in October?

It's unfortunate the team outperformed expectations as it would be much better if the Sox had been in a position to sell at the deadline. I think he had a strategy that tried to balance this year and future years. It also sounds like, maybe, other teams were more aggressive in pursuit of playoff goals and / or the match of the assets the Sox would part with and what teams needed weren't compatible. I don't think anyone can view his strategy as being the right one for 2021, because that is essentially unknowable. I will say I think this team is better than people realize. There are holes, as with every other team, but to be in 1st place at the deadline is not that common an occurrence. They rank very will in the team statistical catergories.

Feel bad for Bobby. Even when he’s the hero he gets to be the goat.

Is there a spot lower than 9 in the batting order that we can drop Vazquez to?

Kinda weird that Eck seems like he is rooting for the Rays here.

LF for the Rays threw the Ball to 2nd base(thinking Bogey was going to score?) Should he have scored?

3rd straight start for a Red Sox pitcher that has given up 6 or more runs. Meanwhile, Yankees, Jays, and Rays (best ERA) are all dealing. I would hold the playoff talk until this staff figures it out. Painful when you have bases loaded 1 out 3-0 count you get no runs. Let's see if they can put together some late magic need to win this game.
