I find Mize to have an unimpressive slider and a good splitter
I bet he has reverse platoon splits without looking
Edit: I literally couldn’t have been more wrong

You think it’s more like that they finish 17-37 or worse than make the playoffs when they are currently leading the wild card? That is just a ridiculous take, recent slump or not. Let's just say I don't think they will make the playoffs. Fangraphs gives them an 83% chance and has them favored to win the division, so by what particular brand of magical thinking do you think it's more likely that they'll suddenly turn into the Baltimore Orioles?

People can call it sour grapes, but Verdugo does not impress me. If there is not something really wrong with him physically, then, well, he isn’t very good. He’s not even on pace to hit 2 WAR this season.

Doogs has been quite bad in low leverage spots this year: .236/.299/.354 in 214 PA

I contend that the team that loses in the wild card game did not actually make the playoffs.

Its weird to me everyone is worried about Schwarber when the most obvious problem is Pérez and Richards. Cora as well actually. They’ve both been hammered for like a month plus. Cora keeps leaving them in way too long, bringing them back out for another inning where they inevitably give up at least one run after getting out of a jam the previous inning where they clearly lost it. This happens basically every Richards start. Yeah the offense is in a funk but they’ll snap put of it. OHH freakn please!! Cora is the reason this team is even in contention. Just look at last year, the expectations for this year and where they are. That might be the worst take of the year, in fact I nominate it as such. Relax dude. Obviously Cora is a great manager but on this issue specifically he has left in Richards too long and we’ve lost games because of it. Thats all I’m saying on that.

Vazquez's little run of stolen bases early in the seasons is going to cost us a lot of outs in the second half

Feels like Renfroe should have called him off and taken that. Also it's just insane this stuff keeps happening to Eduardo.

Almost a highlight reel play by Franchy. Renfroe probably should have called him off. Our luck currently.

E-Rod average EV, 74.9. Max, 88.6.
Meanwhile, Mize has given up 112.1, 109.0, 104.7, 100.9, and 100.4.
Of course we only lead by a run.

Just pointing out the seemingly daily use of the softball uniforms again. It makes the Rockies and Rangers blush. Fun company. Juxtapose that with tonight’s opponent or the MFYs, both of whom stay true to their traditional looks, and we look like some AL/NL West also-ran.

Something I'm curious about in general, who decides on which uniforms on which day?

I really wish they'd take a more patient approach. One pitch and Mize escapes what could have been a big inning. It could have ended the same, but they've got to make him throw more pitches. They had a great game plan against Cole at Fenway a couple of weeks ago. He was close to 100 pitches in the 5th, and that's how they should approach every game. They've got to get into the bullpen early no matter what pitcher they're facing. In fairness that one pitch was smoked, it was just right at somebody No doubt, but they have to get into the bullpen. That was the best case scenario for Mize. If they don't get the starter out of the game early, its gonna be along night. Not just tonight, any night.
