Franchy has started 5 games and Duran has started all of them as well. Head to head comparison time!
Franchy is .333 / .412 / .333 in 17 PA, expected .319 / .399 / .451. .341 wOBA but .379 expected.
Duran is .095 / .095 / .095 in 21 PA, expected .152 / .152 / .169. .084 wOBA, but .143 expected.
No room for Duran when Arroyo / Schwarber comes off the FL (whoever is first)

The hope here is that given Jerry's history, they watch him very closely and they've caught this re-occurrence very early, as they presumably did the other times he beat it.

Xander's little softie went for a hit and I thought, all right, time for the BABIP gods to turn in our favor, and on the very next pitch Devers hits a 105mph GIDP.

ugh. GIDP is a recent theme. First pitch. Come on, Raffi!

The Red Sox are so drained they have a better chance of finishing under .500 than making the playoffs. It's like they had to fight so hard to get where they are they have nothing left in the tank.

I really wish they'd take a more patient approach. One pitch and Mize escapes what could have been a big inning. It could have ended the same, but they've got to make him throw more pitches. They had a great game plan against Cole at Fenway a couple of weeks ago. He was close to 100 pitches in the 5th, and that's how they should approach every game. They've got to get into the bullpen early no matter what pitcher they're facing.

You think it’s more like that they finish 17-37 or worse than make the playoffs when they are currently leading the wild card? That is just a ridiculous take, recent slump or not.

ERod the nibbler tonight, pitch count already up. Just seems off, lacking confidence.
added... seems to have found something. hope he can build off that next inning
