I went and identified Kiké's best-ever hot streak.
I don't think what he's done since the put him back at leadoff can possibly be just a hot streak. It's much longer and, I think, still better than the previous best. I have to update the numbers, though.
Hyers was asked and basically said it was a hot streak like the sort he used to have in L.A. "If "he's just locked in right now" was not something he actually said, that was the idea.
I think he was being half-disingenuous. You wouldn't announce to the world that Kiké also was doing something different. But as I understand it, they signed him because they were convinced he had unrealized offensive upside.

regardless how this game ends up, we have to be concerned that they have had 5 squanders out of 6 chances. several players at 3rd with less than 2 outs and strand them. Too much watching strike 3 for my liking too. I would rather have Duran lay down a bunt and fly to first to get Kiké home. Better than staring at 3 pitches. That gets nothing.
