Can there be any positive expectations for Martin Perez going forward ? I'm positive I'd like to see him removed out of the rotation immediately. He's horrible. Richards is terrible, too. It's going to be tough to continue to stay in the race if they keep running Richards and Perez out twice per every 5 days. Sale can't come soon enough. And at this point they have to have Houck be a regular part of the rotation. They just can't keep trotting out Perez and Richards every 5th day. They can't keep digging out of the holes those guys keep putting them in. Not when you have lineups with Marwins, Vazquezes, and Dalbecs in them.

Skubal can whip the arm but he is a seriously bad athlete.

Glad we didn't trade for Anthony Rizzo so we can see Bobby Dalbec flail wildly at pitches over and over again. They traded for a guy hitting .253/.340/.570 who will be back in a couple weeks instead of a guy hitting .248/.346/.446 and gave up way less in the process. Said latter guy has been on an absolute tear in six games after the trade, yes, but c'mon now. Also reports are that Schwarber looks good at 1B and won't need a long rehab assignment when he goes out.

Would love to see the Sox DFA Richards and move Perez to the pen asap. I get that Perez is stretched out but the dude rarely makes it through four innings anymore anyways.

It's time to make sure that neither Perez or Richards starts another "non double-header" game for the Sox. Sale, Eovaldi, ERod, Pivetta and Houck are the rotation going forward Perez should be the guy that mops up in games where you are either up or down by 8 runs to save your bullpen. Richards should just be released, IMHO. He's not even serviceable at this point. He has allowed opponents to hit over .300 on him. In the modern day "swing for the fences or strike out" game, how can you possibly allow a .300 batting average? ? If one of these 5 starters have issues, I would even rather go with an "opener". I am thinking that Cora may be thinking at least about removing Perez. When he took Perez out of the game today, he looked pissed.

You look at the pitching matchups and you can make an argument that the Tigers have the better starter going in each of the three games. That's not a good thing. Looks like the Tigers had the better starter going in two of the three games. E-Rod finally pitched up to his ability. I suspect some day soon Mize will be the better pitcher. He's had better overall results, but he certainly didn't pitch better than E-Rod. OTOH, Peralta isn't great, but he is better than Richards. And Skubal might not be so good either, but I'd take him over Perez who is terrible. Perez has managed to be terrible for most of the past six or seven years. Even when he gets off to good starts, he's terrible afterwards. It's like there's a magnet that pulls his ERA toward 5. I remember him pitching really well for the Twins and then being so bad they didn't use him for the post-season.

He called the exact same pitch a ball twice before and then rings J.D. up on the same pitch.

I still think Sale should start game 1 of Saturday’s double header

I’d just be happy if Sale starts the Thursday game vs the Rays. It sounds like its a possibility they give him rest and we end up with another Perez start against the Rays.

That was a squander induced by the umpire's bad strike call on JD. They would have had at least one run. We don't know what would have happened after that. Umps have really caused negative outcomes.

I mean, he made contact. I feel like a disappointed dad watching his uncoordinated son whiff at a ball on a T whenever Dalbec is at bat.

I don't know why they didn't let Houck make a start vs. Detroit. Richards and Perez are useless. The good news is that the rotation should get a significant jolt when Houck and Sale join it. Maybe ditto for the offense, too, depending on which Schwarber we get. But right now this team is tough to watch. They're in an early hole too often and are the Squander Kings.

114.4 EV for Dalbec, .580 xBA Sure are having a lot of bad luck on top of bad everything else.
Since some don't care about things like this, I'll phrase it like this. Let's just hope he keeps hitting the ball 114.4 mph in the future. Tons of good things will happen eventually.
