This is ridiculous. How many sub-.500 teams at the time they've played has this team dropped series to? That's the difference between first place and the WC right there.

This game isn't worth watching. I'll find something else to watch to be entertained.

Phillips Valdez: "Why did I even bother?" The rest of us watching wonder the same thing.

This could end up being an epic collapse season

reinforcement is coming "soon" I think when they're fighting for 3rd or 4th place.

I have to say that I am so happy that I forgot it was a 1 PM game. Just looked at the Box Score on ESPN - our offense seems to have forgotten to take the flight to Detroit. Another terrible Perez start (clearly he is one to go to - where - the pen? to the WooSox? - to anywhere but here) - when Sale/Houck are manning the rotation), and - say! - how about that Robles! Off to can some tomatoes and make some sauce. If they do an epic comeback, I will read about it here later on. Seeya!

our trade deadline is paying off for our opponents. Realistically the Sox were an 80 win team this year. There's only so many rabbits in a hat.

Wanting a worse player at a higher cost is not logical, even if he's currently healthy. First base is not that freaking difficult to pick up.
Then why doesn’t JD learn 1B? You’d think he’d want to improve his worth to teams as a possible free agent & more importantly help the team he is on wouldn’t you? He seems to be about the least athletic player in baseball. Maybe that's why?
I'd have to guess that the majority of MLB first baseman didn't learn first base until they got to the majors.

Why does this team throws middle 2 strike pitch so often? And why can't so many of our hitters hit a middle strike pitch very often?

This is ridiculous. How many sub-.500 teams at the time they've played has this team dropped series to? That's the difference between first place and the WC right there. The Sox are playing like the team that many people thought they would be. There is time to get going again, but it was optimistic to expect them to play like world beaters all season long. Schwarber, Sale and Houck should help, but the same black holes that people have been complaining about all season are still there. When a team with those kinds of problems pulls rabbits out of it hat to the tune of 30+ come from behind wins, sometimes it runs out of rabbits. No one is giving up, but we should not be surprised if the Sox play .500 ball or thereabouts for the rest of the year.

Why does this team throws middle 2 strike pitch so often? And why can't so many of our hitters hit a middle strike pitch very often? Because they're looking for bad pitches to swing at.

Failing at the trade deadline seems to have killed this team. It’s like they all looked around the next day and realized it was all smoke and mirrors.

Should have been sellers. What an absolute joke the front office treated this year's team. Pathetic.

Man…. I was a pre-season pessimist, but the gloom here is a bit irrational. Yeah, they are playing poorly, but they could get hot at any point. People can grouse (I do!), but adding Sale and Schwarber IS big. If those guys are on the club in the last 40 games — as they are playing the teams they need to beat — the Sox have their fate in their own hands.
Bottom line: I predicted they’d be out by July. Instead, in what is effectively a ~50 game season they are nipping at the Rays’ heels (who will *not* be getting Glasnow back) and have pretty good room on the Yanks and Jays.
Chins up!
