Cora needs to get it together How? Our offense has been. Dog poop for a month. Literally all 9 starters have been terrible

Barnes just wanted to keep himself fresh for the save opportunity tonight

It's just funny at this point. 21st Century baseball: Pull the dominant starter after 76 pitches and the next guy gives up an instant walk off.
This team is starting to affect my health.

Is it ok to start panicking? I said once NY got within 3 games. They are and Toronto is right on their tail. The Sox should be in 4th place really soon the way they're going. They are ruining what has been a great and fun season. 9.5 game lead over NY and a double digit lead over Toronto is just about gone, in just 2 weeks.

Cora needs to get it together Cora can't insert himself into lineup, sadly. What's up with the hitting coach? What kind of approach is being suggested?

Think of it this way. Barnes will be available to pitch in the next game.
And here is my cynical thought. I used to call Barnes, Mr. Kerosene. Hope he continues to avoid that tag this year.

My biggest fear with the team at the start of the season was that they'd be just good enough not to sell at the deadline, but not good enough to make the PS. Looks like that's where we're heading. My thought was that it would be better to win 78 games and sell and than to win 88 and be on the periphery of the PS race. We're looking at a season in which we don't get any PS action but also don't add to the farm.

As it was Kiké worked him to a full count at a point where he was starting to labor. It had the makings of a successful at-bat. It's just that the ump called him out on that same pitch that should've gotten it to 3-2.

Anyone have any numbers on how far under the luxury tax this team will be in the offseason? They need pitching bad. I'm assuming it does depend on if JD opts in or not. Plus you need to think about using those savings to extend Devers and X. I don't want to see Perez or Richards pitch another game with this team. I don't think the lack of spending for high end talent is on Bloom at all. This is all ownership not wanting to go over the tax. The Sox have to adjust to the future of never going over the tax in order to contend. It can be done and we see it with the Rays but its just going to take a little longer than just going out there and blowing away Max Scherzer with money in the offseason. I just hope that this doesn't become an issue when they have to pony up for Devers and Xander. No way JD opts-out. Like I said before 2018, when JD was signed...JD will finish the 5 years as a Red Sox player as $19.35 million each of the last two years of the contract is more than any other team will pay to sign a DH. (Stanton was signed as an outfielder!).

All the breaks that this team got in the 1st half of this season are now going against them. It seems almost impossible for them to win any games at this point. There is a good chance they are out of the wild card by this time next week. Talk about a stunning reversal. It’s hard to believe.

Can Schwarber just DH. If he hits a homer he can walk around the bases or if he gets a hit we just pinch run for him. Much rather an injured Schwarber then watching these dudes stink it up.

(Stanton was signed as an outfielder!). But he has only one year left at $19.5M after this year. While he won't get a team to offer him that much per year, he should be able to get someone to give him a multi-year deal that will make it worthwhile. I think he opts out. Keep hope alive. And, oh yeah, if Boras walks in and starts banging on the table looking for the kind of numbers discussed on this board for Bogaerts, CB should end the conversation right there and look for a trade.

Pretty sure JDM will opt out. Someone would give him at least 2yrs/$30m. Maybe the Sox are even that team. Pretty sure Boras will want to see what’s out there.
