That one really smarts, when your starter gives you 6 and 1 hit ball and you give up the walk off home run.

Be careful what you guys wish for with JD. He needs help in the lineup. Still is a good buy for his production and if he goes to someone we compete directly with for playoff spots he could do damage directly to us.

Can Schwarber just DH. If he hits a homer he can walk around the bases or if he gets a hit we just pinch run for him. Much rather an injured Schwarber then watching these dudes stink it up. I look at the rest of the season as a shootout for next year’s DH. Unless the Sox sign someone long term to play 1B next year and either DH or OF in 2023.

We were the 2013 Sox, but are now playing like the 2019 version all of a sudden

I know he isn’t on the 40 but man I’d prefer to see Munoz in the lineup today. The bottom half of this lineup for both games today is uninspiring

Inching towards the panic button No need to panic. The Sox are done. The ideal outcome would be for them to lose every game for the rest of the season with the exception of beating the Yankees. The most amazing thing about the team's early success is they did it with not one player on the team having a big year and with most players having down or outright bad years. And yet somehow they kept winning when they had no right to. This was always a sub .500 team. The focus was always on next year. Goals were to sell at the deadline and reset the cap.

Can we rehash the prediction thread. I'm sure since the all star break a lot of the predictions look better now.

We will know soon how Sale and Houck have done today and hopefully feel better about our starting pitching.
Sale has gone three innings so far allowing a couple of hits and six strikeouts. Short of a meltdown, and not counting chickens before they hatch, the news is good so far.

50 games to go. Perfect time for a slump. You don't want to peak too soon. Right the ship, reset the rotation, get guys back healthy, fortify the lineup with Schwarber, and then peak at the right time, which is September and October. We got this.

I have bolded the only true statement in this comment.

Houck blows Springer away, induces a weak grounder from the best hitter in baseball, gets Semien out twice, breaks Bichette's foot, and fans him for good measure.

Sale walks the first two batters in the 4th then works out of it. 78 pitches, 7 Ks, 3 BBs.

Berios: 8 straight scoreless inning since becoming a Blue Jay. Red Sox bats: 13 straight scoreless innings vs. Blue Jays.
Something's gotta give...
