There’s Cora again leaving in Richards too long. Does it every single start he makes.

They have a day off tomorrow and a well rested pen. Leaving him in there was an awful move.

I mean...it was a decent pitch...just not good enough vs one of the best hitters in the league....

I know I am repeating myself since I’ve said this since the day he was signed but… Richards really does suck.

I suspect part of the reason for leaving him in is to get him to five innings and a possible win. That’s bad managing. Richards is losing his rotation spot soon enough and they need this game bad.

Wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if he didn’t walk McGuire with a 5-run lead.

Does anyone even look at pitcher's wins anymore? I couldn't begin to guess how many wins anyone on the staff has. I certainly don't think it has anything to do with their market value these days, if that's what they're concerned about.

In fairness to Cora… up 7-2, you send any normal starter out for the fifth. It speaks volumes about Richards that it seems clear you bank 4 and go to the pen. If that is the case, a guy should not be a starter. And… he won’t be as of next weekend.

So frustrating, everyone knew 3rd time through the order would be a struggle.

Wins may have been overrated, but they may now be underrated. It is, like many stats, flawed. But a starter who doesn’t get wins because he can’t get through the fifth inning? That means something.

I don't really know how you can blame a pitcher for giving up a home run off the end of his bat on a pitch that isn't a strike.
It's just amazing hitting.

And in other news, Duran vaults over the Mendoza Line. Let's hope he keeps climbing.

I actually don’t think that’s it. He’s been doing it all year even when Richard isn’t in position to get them the win. I think he is trying not to overuse the pen but they have off days coming up and some of these bullpen guys wouldn’t even be on a playoff roster.
