but truthfully, the potential for bad outcome was greater on that matchup than most. That has to be acknowledged. Sorry, I never acknowledge that. It's baseball and any team is capable of beating any other on any given day. That's just how it works. Making any sort of blanket prediction, snide or otherwise, has a way of coming back on prognosticators. This one's not over yet in any case. Right now, it is, as jmei said, great that their driving in the baserunners this time around. sure. in a 1 bat sample size, I agree (which is what all at bats are). However, are you saying that 1998 Pedro v. 2021 Vlad would have the same HR outcome probability ? Maybe some of the statistics guys can help on that. Point being is that 2021 Garret v. Vlad is just not a great matchup and what happened wasn't all that unpredictable.

Does any team have worse hair (real hair not Eck hair) than the BlueJays?

The thing about the Vlad home run is that I don’t think they even had anyone warming until after the home run. If they want to let Richards start the inning and pull him once someone gets on, fine, but not only did they let him face Springer and Vlad with a man on, they let him pitch to Semien and Hernandez afterwards. Given the recent losses, this is not a “let him work through it” kind of game. It’s a “do everything you can to win the game” situation. To be clear, I completely agree with you. I just don't see the point in piling on Richards for giving that one up. That could have been Chris Sale throwing the most unhittable pitch ever thrown and it still could have been a home run.

Is it crazy to hope Seabold gets a start vs. the O’s? Richards is pretty clearly toast and I feel like you’d be hard pressed to find a better place to debut than against the O’s at Fenway.

but truthfully, the potential for bad outcome was greater on that matchup than most. That has to be acknowledged. Are we blaming Richards for throwing a ball 3 inches below the strike zone that Vlad hit off the end of his bat? Or Cora for letting him pitch or not intentionally walking him? Not blaming anyone. Great hitters hit pitches anywhere near the zone. I mean, we are talking Garrett Richards here. He doesn't exactly miss bats. Done and over with anyway. He kept us in the game today. Happy for him.

Even the outs are hit hard today. xBA for the team is .413 through 6. Kiké's line out had a xBA of .670.

O's blew a 3 run lead vs the Rays and are now getting blown out been the worst part of our losing streak. misaligned with our competitions wins in a manner that isn't normal.

Listening on the radio and they were talking about what a bad, hanging curveball that pitch was. He also still walked the 9 hitter which amplified the damage. It was about 3 inches below the strike zone. I honestly can't give you my take because I am only listening unfortunately, just the Red Sox radio broadcasters were saying, "I guess that's why Richards was staying away from that pitch" and what a poor curveball it was.

This game is killing me...we are only in the 7th 4 runs up...feels like we are in extras and it's a one run game...

You know it's the Red Sox day when Richards only gives up 4 runs (3 ER) in 5 innings and Dalbec has 2 hits. Lotta game left.

Ill be happy to see this team split the series. While possible, there's no way any one can be that confident in Seabold at this stage. This sounds like the crowd in June who were 100% confident Duran was an upgrade to the outfield and needed to be on the team. Duran's OPS before today was 0.557, Santana's was 0.554. The unused toy isn't always better than the known commodity.

full moon? WTF is happening? They're in the process of blowing the game which is pretty much a must win. The Sox best hope is Dolis. He's lousy and they need to score off him in the 8th.

Complete lack of fundamentals...man on second (not forced) less than 2 outs and a ball hit to the third base side. He runs into the out....gift for the Red Sox, but just horrendous baseball.
