I think this off-season we're going to see guys traded away. I think this season was an announce to Bloom and company as they probably were hoping to get guys like Kiké and Renfroe to flip for more prospects at the deadline where guys have more value. I think Schwarber re-signs because he costs nothing but money. They either keep him at 1B or move him to LF or DH. My guess is if they can get great value for Verdugo, that's what they do. They'll fill a somewhat competitive team while continuing to work on improving their roster by trading away guys for prospects. It makes me wonder if Xander is not long for the team.
Just in a glum mood after this debacle.

I don’t mean to relitigate the deadline, but the Robles trade was the one thing that irked me. I liked Scherff, and they seemed to dump him. Not really. The bad one was Ramirez going for a rental who shouldn't play the rest of the year because the Sox are clearly out of it and should be playing Dalbec, Duran and Cordero every day to see if any of them are worth holding on to.

No to Bobby. I never want to see him on this team again. Want to give a shot to Franchy? Fine, but I'm still happy with Schwarber. If he re-signs he won't cost a draft pick. I'm assuming the Nationals would have offered him arbitration.

This has a 1978/2011 feel to it. The standings say we're in the race and likely to make the PS but I turn the game on every night feeling like we have no chance to win.
Someone said during the Boston Massacre series against the MFYs in early September of '78, "This is the first time I've ever seen a first-place team chasing a second-place team." That's how it felt. That's how this feels.

I like this innovative strategy by the team. Give up as many runs as possible in 1 game and screw with their swing mechanics.

I don’t know how Perez felt about going to the pen, but warming down 10-4? Ouch.

I feel the inevitability in my bones.

Tampa is now up 7-5 and still batting with men on and none out.
Renfroe comes through with another huge squander.

Perez? Really?
Just kidding. A perfect use for a guy who is no longer in the picture for high leverage situations.

The M's reliever walked .619-OPS guy Gardner to lead off the bottom of the eighth. While I was typing this, DJL reached.
I hear the music to the Jaws movie playing in my head. The shark is closing in.

Perez doing Perez things. Outfield miscommunication - give me a break. This team is temporarily lost. Cora has a big job to do to reel them back in.

Pretty good MFY squander - loaded, none out, only 1 run in. Tied with Seattle into the 9th
