Nick Yorke sitting at .312/.405/.456 right now Take that first month out (not cherry picking, just a 19 yo getting acclimate to professional competition) and those numbers turn into something crazy. Best hitting prospect in the system!

Hopefully someone gets Yorke's batted ball data at some point. Had to have been ugly early on even as he got going, would love to see what it's been like this summer.

Just for a good laugh but his line in August is .500/.625/1.056 🤣🤣 That's a 1.681 OPS with 4 walks and 1 K

In non-Yorke related news in Salem, Bradley Blalock continued his nice run. On July 16th Blalock ended the day with a 5.70 ERA. Since then he’s gone 5 IP 2 ER, 5 IP 0ER, 5 IP 0 ER, and now 5 IP 1 ER tonight to lower his ERA over a full run to 4.15. In that stretch Blalock threw 20.0 IP, 19 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 18 Ks.
Blalock is putting together a nice first full professional season and he’s doing it as the youngest pitcher in the whole system that’s in full season ball (doesn’t turn 21 until the end of December).

My mistake, they both stole 11 bases (Gilberto caught 5, Nick caught 7). It's more about GJ lack of base running skills than Yorke's wheels really. Note that in Low-A they are testing the two-pickoffs-per-plate appearance rule. As a result, steals were up dramatically in the league in the early going at least: www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/thanks-to-mlbs-experimental-rule-changes-stolen-bases-in-the-minor-leagues-are-way-upTough to tell how it's affecting this team especially - Jimenez and Rafaela are burners and Lugo is fast. I have a feeling Yorke's steals are more of the Garin Cecchini variety (he stole 51 in Low-A in 2015 despite average speed - combined with great baseball instincts - and never again had more than 15). That said, it's of course not a bad thing that he has them. I just wouldn't read too much into it yet. Cecchini comp? Really? Why don't you just sell Nick Yorke voodoo dolls outside the ballpark?
