Schwarber is starting a rehab assignment tonight. Almost certainly will be in Worcester but I don't think that's actually been officially confirmed.

DSL games already postponed. I assume they'll play doubleheaders tomorrow.

In his last 49 PA, Triston Casas struck out TWICE 😂 I apologize for seeming to be a smartass here. I wondered if that included his Olympic experience so I looked it up. He hit for power there but struck out 6 times in 26 AB. Not to take anything away from Casas because 2 in 49 is a great record at any level.

Hickey making his debut in the FCL, batting third and playing catcher. Mayer is in the lineup.

The last two months of the Casas experience makes me wonder if he was given a directive or a plan for development that wouldn't necessarily translate to in-game success but would develop skills that will pay off in the long run.
Seems like with Portland he's been more contact focused, cutting down strikeouts and putting the ball in play like every pitch is a two strike pitch, but when he went to Japan it was about doing what he does best and cranking dingers. If he can combine those skills going forward he'll be in great shape.

Is there anything out there about Ugueto? I’ve thought the same. Based on some comments made in the rankings thread, the reports don’t match the stats I guess? On paper at least he looks interesting. He’s young-only 3 months older than Mayer and younger than Vaughan, Valdez, Gonzalez, etc. Pretending that Complex League stats matter, he’s hitting for average, a bit of power, and swiping a few bags. The BABIP is high and the K rate is higher than you’d probably like to see. The team liked him enough to make him the only 2019 IFA position player to join the FCL and he’s getting a good amount of playing time too. Maybe the hit tool is questionable?

Belen and Jonathan Diaz also haven't played since 8/7 - they've got Erro playing 1B (2 career starts at 1B). Weird.

Yorke extended his hit streak on the second pitch of the game. Laser to right field for a single.

It seems like Winckowski is threwing a batting practice in Bridgewater, NJ. You can't protect that dude over Crawford in the rule 5, right?

You can protect both Better protect him because if you don’t he’ll be a #4 starter somewhere else in a couple years for cheap. He was basically a lock to be put on the 40 before tonight, one bad outing doesn’t change that

A 23 yo with a 7.6 K's per 9 in AA? Reminds a lot of Teddy Stankiewicz and his straight as an arrow fastball.

The reports on his stuff have been more than fine, do you think he’s accidentally jumped up in the rankings this year? Have you listened to the podcast reports on him? He’s not a huge strikeout guy. He doesn’t need to be. He holds his velo, throws a bunch of strikes, has a good slider, 3 at least average pitches, and knows how to pitch. Backend starter type. Teddy didn’t have a pitch like Winck’s slider. He was also less successful at pretty much every level

Not a great start by Jorge Rodriguez. The second inning was really bad, but credit to him he managed to get through 4.2 IP when I thought it was going to be a much shorter night. Fastball was sitting 92-93, CH 88-89 (85-86 late in the game), and a 79-81 CB. He was struggling to throw the change for strikes so the fastball was hunted and there was a lot of hard contact. Rodriguez wasn’t missing bats at all tonight. The curveball looked pretty good though. He battled through a pretty miserable night here. It’s still feeling like high 90s here with the humidity well after 8 o’clock.
