It's not just a bad outing, the reports on his stuff aren't glowing: Good velocity but mediocre movement on the heater and the results are kinda of showing. A 23 yo with a 7.6 K's per 9 in AA? Reminds a lot of Teddy Stankiewicz and his straight as an arrow fastball. The reports on his stuff have been more than fine, do you think he’s accidentally jumped up in the rankings this year? Have you listened to the podcast reports on him? He’s not a huge strikeout guy. He doesn’t need to be. He holds his velo, throws a bunch of strikes, has a good slider, 3 at least average pitches, and knows how to pitch. Backend starter type. Teddy didn’t have a pitch like Winck’s slider. He was also less successful at pretty much every level Stanky barely cracked 90mph on his heater also if remember correctly and especially so with Winky this ST with parent club cpl games saw with him, he was sitting mid 90's and thought looked good as a reliever, then I think lots of guys should be/have been converted earlier than they are.

Alexander Montero has a decent fastball. Was sitting at 95 and got 6 swing and misses in the 6th inning alone.

Another day, another multi-hit game for Nick Yorke. Ho-hum.
Nick Decker definitely has a pitch recognition issue. Has had a lot of trouble picking up low offspeed pitches. When he does put the bat on the ball, it gets hit hard.
Rafaela hits the ball hard. Even on balls outside the zone, he can get the bat on the ball and drive it.
I like Angel Maita. He’s fast, has good range in the outfield, and has a bit of bat speed at the plate. He’s had a bit of trouble putting the bat solidly on the ball though.
Red Sox brought the tying run to the plate in the 9th but the pitcher deflected an absolute scorcher by a pinch-hitting Jimenez for the final out.

Winckowski has been a league average AA pitcher with a strikeout rate near the bottom of the league and a middling history of making people excited about his potential. If he spent significant time in the majors as a #4 starter I think he'd be defying the odds. I'll be pleased if he provides the Red Sox with some solid years in the pen.

It seems like Winckowski is threwing a batting practice in Bridgewater, NJ. You can't protect that dude over Crawford in the rule 5, right? I'd sure rather have Winckowski than Kluber...
Sorry, MFYs, Kluber's not going to be your answer to Sale coming back.

Yorke in August: .500/.615/.967, 7 walks, 2 strikeouts lol With Yorke on the middle of a great run,I wondered how his numbers hold up over a longer sample. So, by adding all of July to August, Yorke still had lofty numbers. BA .396. OBP .473. SLG .640 OPS 1.113 Hard to see how those numbers do not warrant a promotion to Greenville. Wish the Sox would say something.

I'm thinking he's off to Greenville as soon as Tyler McDonough is ready to play.
