There are some additional interesting changes to future drafts, although its unclear to me if these changes will apply to 2022 draft or not until the 2023 (the lottery is for sure not until 2023). Courtesy of MLB Pipeline: Anyone know if it the amount counted towards the bonus pool will be towards the previous years pool or the next years bonus pool amount? I don't see why it wouldn't be the draft the player was selected in. I think that's why the higher 225k number applies.

Or am I misunderstanding? Can they only offer the 225k tops?

But DFEs don't tend to be top guys who'd get much more than that. We're talking high school or juco players taken in the back half of the draft most likely, not day 1 guys. Looking at last year, we're not talking about Green/Ehrhard types. These are guys who are then going to a juco for a year.

Yeah, he's .390/.552/.902 with 6 HR, 14 BB, and 8 K in 58 PA after that 2 for 17 start. Not facing the strongest competition yet but he's beating up the weaker staffs the way you'd want him.

What a joke, the whole competitive balance picks system is garbage if you ask me.

What a joke, the whole competitive balance picks system is garbage if you ask me. They should get more picks if they are in a smaller market and spend that much money. Teams that spend like Pittsburg or Cleveland should never get picks.

Ok so this reminds me of the old saying, "what do you call the doctor who comes in last in his class in school?" ..... Doctor What do you call the guy who owns a small market team in MLB? .... A Billionaire I'm not in favor of giving billionaires anything extra for doing what they are supposed to be doing if they are in the baseball business. Harsh maybe but sports is a lucrative business and some of these guys don't deserve to be given anything more than the welfare they are getting from teams that are trying. Maybe Cinncy is not a viable market.

So with the Trevor Story signing, the Red Sox will lose their normal second round pick, which would have been 60 or 61. That pick had a slot of a little over a million.
Red Sox will pick at 24 and 41, then again around 76 or so. Once Conforto signs the draft order should be set.

Perhaps Jud Fabian not signing with the Sox and the Sox having that additional 2nd round pick (the lower one) to spare, made it easier for Bloom to give up the draft pick for signing Trevor Story?

I want to be clear that I'm not dogging him at all, and none of this has changed my views on DeLauter really. But he got hurt against Quinnipiac and missed the series against Tennessee. He played one game midweek game against VaTech, which tossed out a 0 IP on the season starter cause they ran through all their pitching in extra innings double headers against GT. From now until the end of season, the only times he might face a drafted pitcher are two midweek games against Maryland and a weekend series against Northeastern. That's why the opening series against FSU was fairly important for him - he just doesn't have a lot of opportunities to show off against good college pitching. Separately, also why destroying the Cape Cod League as he did was as important as it was.

Being from Tennessee, I watch primary UT and Vandy games. Jordan Beck is going to be an absolute monstah! He’s very athletic for a guy his size. He’s built for Fenway Park. Any news on Kumar? Prospectslive has him ranked at 60.
