Allan Castro is another guy in the DSL that's having a decent year. Homered in today's game, giving him 10 XBHs in 21 games (3 2B, 5 3B, 2 HR). 18 year old outfielder has also stolen 3 bases.

Because the transaction isn't official. Nothing goes on there until it actually happens.

Still hoping to see more power from Lyonell James. Gotta add to the frame.

Positive start from Luis De La Rosa: 4IP, 1H, 0ER, 1BB, 5K If you remove his one blow-up appearance, he's been really good in his other 4 appearances: 12IP, 5H, 0ER, 4BB, 10K

We have A LOT of lottery ticks in rookie leagues. Next two years should be a fun follow.

Brasier is fine because he’s a 60 day IL guy but I thought guys on the 10 day IL could only rehab in Worcester? I could have sworn something like that was said on a podcast or in the forum.

Eddinson Paulino seems interesting... also it says he is R5D eligible next year, he should have an extra year, right? Doesn't take away from the point of in a year or two there will be a lot of high school/DSL signees way away from the big leagues all Rule 5 eligible. Thanks, Covid!

I'm not sure if you're serious or not so sorry if I'm missing this as a joke. It was reported yesterday that he's getting promoted today. When Joel made the thread there was nothing official. A Gameday thread title in our forum is very different from what goes up on the website.

Sorry, not following. There's no Rule 5 extra year because last year was a wash or anything.

18, 19, 20, 21, 22
Fifth draft. All the IFAs that year are 2022 (Bonaci, Lopez, Paulino, Vaughan, Wilkelman Gonzalez, Bryan Gonzalez).
IFAs generally get boned by how Rule 5 is set up. They really need to give the IFAs an extra season.

They really need to give the IFAs an extra season. Is it clear that it's a negative for the player? Yes, they have to be added to the 40-man earlier or be subjected to the Rule 5 draft, which is bad from the clubs' point of view. But I think those are both good outcomes from the player's point of view, right? Either an immediate MLB salary or at least a salary bump for being on the 40-man roster (even while optioned, 40-man players get a minimum of $46,000 this year, which is pretty paltry but still considerably more than true minor league salaries ($14,700 for a player in AAA)).
I suppose it means IFAs burn through options more quickly, which may hurt their long-term development. But I still think the early Rule 5 eligibility is a net positive for IFAs and something the union may resist changing in the next CBA.

I give up trying to understand the Portland outfield at this point, but Granberg in CF and Rosario to RF tonight is weird to me. Rosario has the much better arm in the outfield which makes more sense to me but would you rather have the better defender in CF or the better arm in RF. I’ve also never been to Hadlock and don’t know if it’s a Fenway situation where right field is a harder position to play.
