Eli Morgan, 2-6, 5.98, is not as good (obviously) as our line up today (so far) is making him look.

Just a masterful performance by Houck. Fools had no chance.

Wow. That slider is nasty. I am more and more impressed by Houck… and I *started* at a very high level of excitement. This kid is a front-of-rotation pitcher.

Houck mentioned how much he loved Sale being around in Worcester. If Sale wants to create a bunch of clones, go for it.
If you made me bet I'd say Houck a SP next year and Whitlock setup-closer in waiting.

The one time Schwarber doesn't hit it on the screws is with runners at 2nd and 3rd...

Ok I know the trouble Houck has 3rd time through, but again...I don't get this pitching change...

This is bizarre - Houck was mowing them down, low pitch count. Big Fudge time? What is Cora thinking?
And why can't our guys hit a below average pitcher throwing pretty much average stuff?
And - when our guys get more healthy - who would you rather see be DFAd - Davis, Robles, or Both?

I've said it lots- Houck is simply a joy to watch pitch. Reminds me so much of a right-handed Sale in the speed he works, and the aggressiveness of his pitching. Pitch count looking manageable so far - should be able to go for 6....(7?) He’s my favorite pitcher on the Sox to watch, other than Sale and maybe Whitlock

Ok I know the trouble Houck has 3rd time through, but again...I don't get this pitching change... Unless they are resigned to him being a 5-inning max pitcher, they have to let him try. Today is ideal: his pitch count is very low, and the Indians aren’t great. Otherwise, next season maybe consider flipping roles between him and Whitlock.

That split is for all Red Sox starters. Every time you leave in a starter for the third time through you're sacrificing short term wins. Sometimes the pen needs a breather and you're okay with the trade off. And sometimes the game is not close and you can spare some equity. Neither is the case today.

I don't know if this is the correct move or not, but Houck was clearly on, pitch count good, etc. Is it better to switch to a lesser pitcher just because he will be different?

What do you call going from Davis to Robles in a big game with the bases loaded? Yikes!

I’d be curious to see pitch counts. Is it third look alone, or is fatigue a factor? Because, again, today Houck’s count is really, really low to come out.

Ok I know the trouble Houck has 3rd time through, but again...I don't get this pitching change... I know the stats...but the thing is: if you never let him face a lineup a third time those stats will never change...it's a logic circle... And let's not forget...Davis is not exactly a shutdown reliever...

Every single left handed reliever is good for a walk or two.
