Only good news about the FCL ending is that soon we'll get the FCL top 20 lists from BA.

Anyone know why Casas was pulled? Game log has him being pulled after a pop out to the catcher in foul territory. In his previous at bat he was thrown out at second trying to turn a single into a double. Maybe he got a bit banged up on the play and they didn’t like how he looked chasing that foul ball. Complete guess as I’m not watching the game.

They ended up putting Cubillan in at 1B by accident when he actually went in at 2B.
Down East won today so Salem needs to win today to continue their season.

Tough one for Salem, blew a 6-1 lead to lose 9-7. The put up a last-ditch 2-out rally in the ninth with a double and single, but stranded men on the corners.
Most of the damage was done in the 6th, which started with back-to-back errors by Flores at 3rd base. 6 unearned runs later they saw a 6-1 lead turn into a 7-6 deficit.
All-in-all, while they didn't make the playoffs they still won the division.

I don't really care who wins what division. the fact is that almost all the affiliates performed very well with very good ending records pointing out the fact that there is talent in every level and that is all that matters.

Santos done after 2IP 41 pitches. Any info? I think it was just an end of the season game with no playoff implications. Pedro in center did cause an unearned run in the second. After striking out the first two, George hit a hard grounder to Potts who made a nice stop but his throw to first took two bounces for an infield single. Gomez followed singling sharply to center and Pedro bounced it into the stands trying to get George going first to third. In the first, Santos spotted a 94 mph fastball on the inside corner breaking Taglia's bat but went for an rbi double down the right field line. Of his 4 k's, all were on off speed pitches, 3 swinging. He hit 95 on the scoreboard 5 times. Not quite as dominant as Tuesday, but still an interesting prospect and a great return for someone who was DFA'd. DeJesus, though probably not a candidate for protection, is at least a very good organizational player. He is a little unusual because he will throw at least two off speed pitches for every fastball, even though he can get to 94. His last fastball in the 6th flashed a 96 on the scoreboard striking out Gomez. Politi was once again up to 96-97 but throwing more 92 with movement than the strait fastball. When Clarkin threw his first pitch at 89, I thought it would be another good offensive day for Portland, but Pedro, Casas and Cannon all had drives caught on the warning track in center. Casas missed a homerun by a couple feet his last time up. Potts hit his second homer to right center in the series. The right fielder had trouble getting Pedro's fly ball out of the right field corner allowing for a surprising triple for him. I felt some sadness as Potts flyball settled into the centerfielders glove for the third out and an end to the regular season. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this site. It was a great little idea you had Mike.

This year, more than ever before, the lower minors are loaded with players who have played more games than they have played in any year of their lives. Fatigue has to be a factor and makes you think that next year might be the year of the breakout.
