Think I saw Cora is 5-0 after a playoff loss and the margin of victory is ridiculous.

For someone who doesn't follow things as closely as most people on this board could someone please explain how robo umps would work? I get the balls and strikes calls, but how about plays at the plate, foul ball calls, balks, and probably some things I'm not thinking of. You would still have an umpire behind the plate, the robo would be telling him the call on balls and strikes. They should at least make the umpire behind the plate dress like a Class M-3 Model B9 General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control Robot. Then he can yell, "Danger Aaron Judge! Danger Aaron Judge!", as Judge is thrown out by 10 feet at the plate.

On the other hand... If, late in life, I cross paths with Alex Cora wandering in the desert, I will offer him water, thank him for all he did for the organization, and ask him why the hell he refuses to treat one-run deficits as high-level situations. The Red Sox still had an 18% win probability when Perez came in - that's not a game you give up on! In the playoffs, no less!!
I have a little sympathy for that decision. Bases loaded, Brantley coming up (lefty hitter who makes a lot of contact and walks at a decent clip but with a big platoon split (130 wRC+ vs. R career, 91 vs. L)), Eovaldi running out of gas, who should he have gone to instead?
You already used Taylor, Ottovino and Whitlock, so they're out.
Hernandez gets you the platoon advantage but the risk of walking in a run is very high.
Other options were Robles and Brasier, but you lose the platoon advantage.
I think there's a legitimate case for Perez there, even if it didn't work out.

Personally, Cora’s record in the postseason after a loss is inconsequential to today’s game. It is baseball. Eventually that won’t be true and he will lose two in a row. Could be today unfortunately. So yeah to me I am not pumping myself up with that. Those kinds of stats give me the heebie jeebies. This is baseball. No one is perfect in this game by definition. Eventually you will fail and the run will end.
That being said, for now, let’s hope he can push that record after a playoff loss to 6-0 today.

What does it really mean? He's telling the guys not to lose a second time because it would be a bad thing to do?

Sale not Houck?
It’s game 5 of the ALCS this ain’t no time for experimenting. Houck has the far superior track record in the past month

I hope Sale doesn’t make me look bad after supporting him the last two starts!

Lay off the pitches down in the zone and we’ll be ok!

When Sale gives up contact they hit the ball hard.

Astro lefties are killing our left handed pitchers. Need to come up with a new pitch.
Checked the stats thus far, lefties are hitting 12/27 with 4 HR against our lefties. Some of that was Perez, but come on...

Sale looks good, but our bats need to show some signs of life here

Am I imagining it or does Valdez keep touching his left temple area before each pitch.

And suddenly we’re back to the August offense.

Offense has fallen into some bad habits - watching the strikes, expanding the zone.

This all or nothing offense looks lethargic.
That's now 10 innings without scoring. Valdez looks good tonight. He is spotting his pitches well. Hope Sale hangs in or else this game could get away.

Am I imagining it or does Valdez keep touching his left temple area before each pitch. And then removes his hat and wipes that area with his sleeve as he walks off the field (Just in case he is checked)
