Xander really needs to show up a bit more in these big spots. Disappointing night for him.

Lost game one of the CS in '04, '13, and '18, and those series turned out pretty good - Nate tomorrow and Fenway for games 3, 4, and 5. Chins up, this team always seems to rise from the dead.

Crap games from Cora, Houck and Xander.
They all have to be better from here on.

Can't put it all on Cora, and who knows what would have happened, but really don't think they should have gone to Sawamura in a one run game, not in game one with everyone ready to go, who knows what'll happen the rest of the series, try to win the one in front of us.

People keep saying they want Houck as a reliever but this is a pretty good example of why thats a stupid idea.

Difference was the Astros hit the ball in the air and the Sox didn't. 7 of the 9 balls hit over 100 mph were on the ground, Kikè had the other two. Astros hit two home runs at 97 and 98 mph. Short porch, use it

People keep saying they want Houck as a reliever but this is a pretty good example of why thats a stupid idea. I still would have liked to see what would have happened if they put him there earlier in the season and given him time to adjust to the role. But right now, he isn't handling it well. I think Pivetta has the right temperament for it. We should try having him do what we're trying to get out of Houck.

You know it was Cora who put Sawamura in Ehh didn't hate the move before the inning tbh. Really didn't want to use Whitlock in that situation while down in game 1 - my guess is he may go two innings tomorrow with Pivetta maybe pitching an inning or two as well.
