I won't be upset with either Goalie. Can defend either choice.
To be clear, because of the way some online are reacting to the idea of a switch- I wouldn't consider it "benching" Ullmark. The Goalie situation has been pretty 50/50 all year. I always assumed they'd both play in the postseason. Ullmark wasn't terrible, but he wasn't so good that I would forego that.
But again, either way is understandable.

Well, I guess the refs decided to just end this one...

Every time Carolina throws a cheap shot, they get a Power Play.
Great message sent, refs.

They look horrible other than the first few minutes of the game.

Tough game to watch, seemed that the calls were slanted towards the Canes. The Bruin's effort for large periods of the game just didn't seem like enough to compete. The forwards in particular need to play with a bit more compete both in their zone and especially in front of the canes goal. Both games there has been plenty of rebounds ripe for the Bruin's to pounce on and they just are not getting themselves in these dirty areas where most goals are scored. The hit on Lindrum was a bit high but Hampus did seem to have his head down. The refs called it a clean hit, seemed like at the very least you could call a charge. All and all if the Bruin's continue playing the way they have they are not long for the playoffs.

Glad I missed it, I would probably be infuriated if I had seen it I would certainly think so. Again, the Bruins were better early, couldn't capitalize. Hurricanes ended up up 2-0, but if they had been better it wasn't by a lot. But that's the way it goes. Then things got out of hand. Last minute or so of the 1st, Bergeron hits one of their players' sticks, the guy drops it and it's called a slash. Bergeron was nowhere near the guy's hands. Then, at the horn at the end of the period, one of their guys blasts Carlo into the boards. Hit seemed kind of high, definitely unnecessary. Never saw replays on it. Maybe it wasn't a penalty, it was borderline at least. Bunch of players reacted, nothing major, usual scrum. Two of their guys worked DeBrusk a bit. Well, second period starts and turns out they decided to penalize two Bruins and one Cane for it. So, 5 in 3, Canes score, 3-0, game practically decided by this. Shouldn't have been a PP at all, maybe one for us if anything, instead a back-breaking 5 on 3 for them. So, we get one back, 3-1. Then the hit on Lindholm. I am baffled and annoyed by the people trying to convince us it was a "good hit". He was driving upwards, and hit him in the chin. Even if he wasn't trying to be dirty, or you want to convince yourself the "primary contact" was in the chest, he was moving upwards, hit the guy int he head, all while he wasn't looking. Anyway, Bruins react. Again, typical type of scrum, didn't see much, but of course it's a PP for Carolina. Boston, down two goals in the third, get aggressive on a chance to score shorthanded, breakaway, Forbert commits a penalty to stop it, 5 on 3 and Carolina puts the game out of reach. Additionally, Forbert had a high-stick that hit a guy in the face, double minor, 4 minute penalty. OK, fine. Later, a high-stick hits Marchand in the face. Two minute minor. Hmm. Hate to put it all on the refs, and I don't. But that complete nonsense 5 on 3 puts the game virtually out of reach and the final 5 on 3 (the second penalty was legit, but wouldn't have happened if not for the BS first call) definitely does. Can't help but be angry at completely lopsided officiating having a possible deciding impact (I mean, just remove the 5 on 3 goals, and it's 2-2 at the end, if we want to look at it simply). One more thing to irritate- Carolina fans were cheering like crazy when Hampus was hurt and having trouble standing after the hit. I heard there was a lot of abuse shouted at Pasta about his dead baby and the that the NESN sideline reporter had beers dumped on her.

Let's see how it goes tonight. We need a stronger complete game effort and a break from the officials.

Marchand is the most frustrating player. Great talent but always taking stupid penalties at the worst possible times.
Coyle & DeBrusk, come thru with another shorthanded goal please.

What an incredible dive by Marchand to give them the 5 on 3.

Good compete from the whole team, timely saves, special teams back on track and the biggest; keeping their composure equals a very good night of playoff hockey for the B's. The Canes after the shorty lost their swagger and confidence, should be real interesting tomorrow.

Felt like Lazar and Forbort (9 blocks) were everywhere last night. Reilly stepped up well too.

Felt like Lazar and Forbort (9 blocks) were everywhere last night. Reilly stepped up well too. I don't know what the final stats were, but at one point in the game Carolina had 19 shots on goal but also had 19 shots blocked. The B's were getting after it.

Forbort was awesome last night Wasn't able to watch last night, but I thought he's been pretty good in the first two games, except for the penalties Wednesday.

These past few games it seemed like Carolina had 6 skaters out there. They were smothering the B's barely giving them any room to maneuver. They owned the center ice area for much of the time, and did a heck of a job preventing the B's from entering the zone on the power play. Several of the B's better scoring chances actually came while shorthanded.
The B's need to find a way to get these defenders off their backs and find some openings. That is going to get more difficult now the McAvoy won't be playing. Maybe if Brown flattens a few guys that will open things up.

They are by far the most well conditioned team in hockey because of Brind'Amour, who is probably still in playing shape and could beat most of the team in any conditioning drill. Players who get traded there mid season can't keep up during practice.

Could have given the Canes 4 minutes on that last penalty, but that would have made it 11 power plays, so I guess they didn't want that because that is just f'ing absurd for a playoff game and they know it.
I'm sure the Canes will get a bunch of stupid power plays to even it up so the entire game can be special teams. The NHL is just as stupid as the NBA with officiating.

Great team effort with the B's top two d-men out Swayman was rock steady. They came back twice down a goal and kept their composure to tie up the series.
Very nice, Tuesday night will be fun!
