I'm doing a quick check on my top three players for pick 14 when we took Nesmith and OMG are Anthony, Maxey and Bane balling right now. Yeah, that draft is looking really bad for Danny. I was a vocal "move up for Haliburton" proponent, but any of those three would look great now and help if we needed to pay up for an established player. Yeah, we actually had Bane for a few seconds...

The fact you could have had two of them is what really hurts. I'm not a guy that looks back and calls out a GM for Giannis or the one player he missed. It's a long list and he traded Bane to move Kanter only to bring him back. Just not trading Bane, keeping Kanter over Thompson and getting a guy like Crowder or Holiday fixes everything. The fact you could have Anthony or Maxey also is just wild. It's just a shame Danny's legacy ends on such a crappy note. Add that the one player he really hit on in Pritchard, now is being treated like Kemba Walker on the Knicks and it's just horrible.

Let's have some poise, boys. Missed free throws and some silly turnovers are why we are down 1 instead of up half dozen or more. One quarter left...but despite being short handed, the Celts are playing right with the Warriors. Impressive 3Q

Now in the 4th the short bench is showing- outhustled, lack of passing, bad choices for shots. We just don't quite have enough of a few things - shooting and poise for sure.
Also - Smart is such a complicated player to fully appreciate - he does some great things, then negates them with bad.
And yet - despite missed free throws and all - we are still kind of right there. Still a game with 2 min left.
Too bad - Tatum has had some threes that could have made things really interesting but missed them.

No excuse to not get a shot off in that possession. Damn.

Well, it was an entertaining game. It was there for the winning...but too many little things didn't pan out when they had to.

Nice win, these few games more than anything have showed me we really need to trade Schröder and just let Pritchard shoot it. His ability to space the floor is insanely valuable to this team regardless of his defensive shortcomings.

Some of our the best games are when a bunch of guys are out and Ime is forced into the right mix of players. Yet he never seems to learn from it.
For a team that wants to shot a ton of three's yeah you need to play Pritchard and true shooters
I don't think Schroder is an issue, playing him big minutes with Smart is a big issue. Just like playing Horford and Robert Williams together. Just like always playing big and not giving Tatum enough time at PF and basically no small ball when healthy.
You know what I hate, a defensive first team that plays slow wanting to live and die by the three point shot. I see a lot of people complaining about Schroder creating 2 point shots. You need that, what you should be working on if you had right mix, is Schroder creating more out of that. Something we saw early in the year, yet has changed of late with him playing so much with Smart. It's basically Stevens playing Pritchard last year as a SG and not a PG. Put him in the right role and then let's judge him. Not going to do that? Then trade him! Yet I believe a defensive first team has to be able to get 2 point shots, not live and die by the three.
Anyone look at Smart and ask yourself what you need if he's your starting PG to become a Championship level team? Especially if Robert Williams is your starting center long-term? I get like Bradley Beal and that's a problem.

I think they should go young and since Ime really wants to start 2 bigs, then start Grant next to RWIII.

Smart is a great player to have if he is the 5th or 6th best player and gets less than 30 minutes/gm. If Smart is anything more than a defensive game setter then you don't have a very good team. I am all for moving him to a team that needs that guy and their should be a few. Move Schroeder to a contender as although I like him and he is a good player he doesn't do anything for the future unless they can sign him LT. Basically start thinking about 2022/23 soon as this team isn't going anywhere. Play PP and see what happens. But if Brown and Williams have LT health issues it is back to the drawing board and they will get worse before they get better.

Wanted to get folks thoughts on the following:
In a pod with Adam Kaufman, Sean Deveney suggested that the ideal fit for a 3rd star next to Tatum and Brown is, in his mind, De'Aaron Fox. I tend to agree he's at or near the top of the list. So, the questions to ask:
1. Can you get him without giving up Brown (Deveney's premise was that he'd be perfect to maximize the Jays). If so, what's the offer.
2. If you're in the camp that it can't be done, would you be willing to give up Brown to get him. If so, is that a straight up deal or does one side need to offer more? What would that look like.
I have my thoughts (Don't see why Sac would do it without getting Brown; I think Sacramento would have to throw in more but not sure what would make sense).
I THINK I know where some of you would land on this but wanted to see what others thought.

Fox’s stock is way down. I think possible to get him without moving Brown, but may need to be a three-teamer since Sacramento will want young players in addition to picks.

I think the perfect offensive PG for Tatum and Brown is a Rozier or Walker when healthy. Gives you a three headed monster that can all space the floor for each other and drive to the basket. There obviously much more too it than just that, like Rozier better D and the fact he pushes the pace.
If you wanted PGs that can't shoot, I'd say Fox is #3 to Simmons and Murray. I see Fox as just a better Schroder. I certainly love his attacking the rim and FTs, yet he's not filling out the other stats like Simmons and Murray. He's not the defender those two are. Texas stay committed to Murray, given Ime that fits even more now.
I'm not trading Brown unless there's something major in his medicals we don't yet know.
I'm certainly not against it depending on cost if Smart is leaving, heck ship out Horford and also get Barnes lol.

Outscored in the first, outscored in the fourth, no poise late in the game with the lead - T on Smart, missed FTs, turnovers, another microcosm game befitting a .500 team this season. They just can't get out of their own way. This will end up being an awful, unnecessary loss at home.
I just don't think you can be a winning team with Smart - he gives up as much as he gives.

So...what's next? Team seemed to quit in the 4th. Tatum seems disinterested. Udoka has some issues to deal with (or is he the/an issue?)
Can't see this team catch fire/going anywhere at the moment.

Another epic loss by an epic group of losers.
Brad did a dreadful job with this roster, and Ime has somehow managed to be worse. His rotations are nonsensical.

Sorry but as frustrating and bipolar as this team is I'm not concluding anything from a game where we have no frontcourt or depth against Embiid.
Tatum playing on one and half ankles, massive indictment of Nesmith and Romeo to play that many minutes and put up those numbers.
