We closed the Free Agency thread because too many of the same posters were posting too many of the same posts, pages and pages of complaining without adding any insight or humor. We allowed it to go on for much of the winter because there was little baseball news and therefore wasn't much to talk about. That is not the case now. This repetitive and poor-quality posting will not spread into this and other threads. Consider this a formal warning to all. (Sorry your post got deleted, Eric. I've had a few times where I'd written out lengthy, thoughtful things and then gotten logged out. It is very frustrating!) Pro tip: If you find a post stretching into a third or fourth paragraph, cut and paste it into a text file and then take your time without worrying something funky is going to happen to your connection. I do that at literally every other site I post to. But this board has a great built in recovery system. The only way to lose a post you're writing is the one we just invented.
Anyway, the main reason I came back to this thread was to note that I discovered that I can't bring myself to post off-topic anywhere, so I'm posting my thoughts in the new "Do You Want Story?" thread, which at least has an overlap.

Haha, That should stop the sanctimonious BS spouted by the "poor victim" Yankee fans. Their team was doing their own sort of cheating too. Probably all 30 teams were. Just not quite as egregiously as the Astros.

Imagine not having a Yankee fan as the commissioner. They should re-open the international signings investigation that the Red Sox got punished for and the Yankees didn't.
You look at their signings and it's so obvious that they were doing the same or worse.
It's like Jets fan Roger Goodell in the NFL hating the Patriots.

Hahaha - read the bolded part. The Yankees' argument is so deeply stupid. "The letter must be kept secret because it makes us look bad..."

Red Sox should have argued against the punishments because it made them look bad.

Funny, but for those who don't know: www.si.com/mlb/2014/08/20/rob-manfred-interview-mlb-commissionerSurprise surprise that the Yankees get preferential treatment. Obviously he likes money way more than baseball, but still.

That whole "wreck our reputation" thing is a slippery slope for the Yankees. That's the reason why a lot of fans, not just Red Sox types, believe the letter should be released!

He’s still not as bad as Goodell but the fact its a reasonable question is pretty scary.

That is funny, but I wouldn't feel that bad about the Yankees' offseason if I was them. They signed Rizzo; he's pretty good. They got Donaldson and a good defensive shortstop for a couple guys that probably weren't going to do much for them.
But they are an old team that got even older. Judge will be 30. Stanton, LeMahieu, Rizzo, Hicks, Higashioka, all 32. Donaldson, 36. It's not hard to imagine injuries and/or decline eating up swathes of that lineup.
The Red Sox, by contrast, don't have a starter over 31, and only Bradley, Vazquez, and Kiké over 30.

I thought their trade deadline and off season were terrible. They traded prospects for two older players and now have to spend big to resign Judge. Gallo is a free agent after this year. They have a big payroll but a lot locked up in older, slower players. The Gallo and Rizzo deals were dumb in my opinion. They also took on Donaldson’s deal which allowed the Twins to get Correa which was weird. They should’ve sold off Judge for prospects and then maybe resigned him later like they did with Chapman. They were too proud to do it and lost in the wild card anyway.

If I was Michael Conforto, I would consider choosing a team to play for.

Solid move by the Jays, who now have a solid pinch-runner, which is a nice thing for a playoff contender to have in its back pocket. Maybe Coors revives Grichuk's bat. He was brutal last summer. Jays save a lot of money in the exchange as well, unless there's money exchanged in the transaction.

The Jays also got Adrian Pinto from COL in the deal. He's an interesting, pint-sized (pun intended) prospect who hit .360 last year in the DSL with a 17.0 BB% to a 8.0 K% and an ISO of .183.
