In for a dime, in for a dollar. If you go over the salary cap, come back with a trophy.
Trade One Twins get: Tanner Houck, Jarren Duran, Bobby Dalbec Red Sox get: Byron Buxton
Trade Two: Marlins get: Tristan Casas, Brayan Bello, Nick Yorke Red Sox get: Sandy Alcantara
Trade Three: Subsidized Renfroe for relief pitching
Sign Kyle Schwarber
Sign Seiya Suzuki
Line up: RF Suzuki 1B Schwarber SS Bogaerts 3B Devers DH Martinez CF Buxton LF Verdugo C Vasquez 2B Hernandez
UT Arroyo C Plawecki
Rotation: Alcantara Sale Eovoldi Pivetta Whitlock Seabold
Over the salary cap? Probably, but not necessarily, and only for 2022. Feeling frisky? Sign Matz and move Pivetta to closer. Or trade money to San Diego for Hosmer and prospects (possibly to flip to Minn or Miami or just replenish the system). Or drop a load on Scherzer. Regardless, these moves are 2022 GFIN. But they also set up 2023 quite nicely regardless of what happens with Bogaerts, Eovaldi, Vasquez, Hernandez, or Martinez. Going forward, Devers, Schwarber, Verdugo, Suzuki, Buxton, Alcantara and Whitlock is a great core.
2022 is a window, the perfect year to drop the bomb.

No interest in trading Houck straight up for Buxton, not to mention adding the other two guys. Has never played a season without getting hurt.
Alcantara is legit, but still that’s a ridiculous trade.

Agreed. I'm not even sure if I would be willing to part with just Bobby for Buxton. He'll be a FA next year, never healthy and turned down a decent offer from Minnesota on a multi year deal, so would probably lose him after next year. Don't get me wrong, he's uber talented, but I'd have to pass. Really like Alacantra, but that's too much IMO. I'd be ok with moving Renfroe if we signed either of Schwarber or Suzuki.

Trade 2 is what happens if you give Dave Dombrowski a handle of Tequila and an 8ball of coke
