Brian Abraham on Yorke (2nd paragraph) as told to Chad Jenning in the Athletic: And I think we’ve definitely seen that in the second half of the year, to be quite honest. He’s hit the ball more hard. He’s driven the baseball pull side in the air more so. And he’s just taking more comfortable at-bats. He’s working deeper into the counts. It’s not always turning into results, but I think he’s seeing the ball better, he’s having a better approach overall, and he’s driving the baseball more consistently. We’ve definitely seen that in the second half as he’s become a little bit more healthy and able to play more consistently. That, along with the defensive side where he continues to show improvements — while the numbers might not show it, I think we’ve seen someone who’s made some adjustments, has battled through some difficulties, and who is coming into the end of the season on a high note compared to where it might have started. This is an encouraging writeup. Very rarely if ever is it a straight linear path for prospects as they rise to the majors. I'll stop short of saying maybe some struggles is a good thing but I will say it's probably not a bad learning experience for the young man. Let's hope he gets a clean healthy offseason comes back next year and continues to show why were intrigued by his hit tool.

Bump. We'll be unveiling the end-of-season list over the course of next week. More movement than you all might think as we took stock of the full season and all of our reports from over the year, including as high as the top 10.

The Binelas drop is absolutely killing the JJB & 19 Mil for Renfroe trade. On the whole, I had a dream that Chaim would be good at picking the right prospects in trades, but he has been pretty weak. The lottery tickets Freddy Valdez and DelaRosa have not even been regulars in the GCL (I know), Franchy and Winkowski are not panning out, and even high level kids like Downs failed and Verdugo was OK. I'm not going to complain about the "lottery ticket" Hudson Potts and Rosario. I think Pivetta is the only hit. The jury is still out on E Valdez and Abreu, who have a chance (though I'm skeptical). Basically, I was hoping he had a skill like Tampa has to trade for prospects who then perform. Advance edit: Sorry to derail the thread, but the Binelas thing set me off.

Sneak preview, it's one spot accounting for Wong graduating, essentially a flip with Coffey while Ward falls and ERC rises past them.

How are player ceilings determined? I get it's a rough projection, but do you guys look at an outlier outcome such as: "what is the 99th percentile outcome for this player"? Or is it more along the lines of a 70-80th percentile outcome that's a little closer to "could happen"?

Another great SoxProspects.com by James Dunne and staff. Before I began reading your rankings, I never was as informed on the Red Sox prospects. Mostly concentrated on the MLB roster. Now with the excellent knowledge you share I can't wait to read more, thank you for your hard work and excellent synopsis of the prospects.

It is interesting that for all the shuffling, there is one guy in the top 20 acquired via trade. In the top-30, there are a few more, though at least 3 are moving quickly in the wrong direction.

In case anyone missed it, our new last four post-Rule 5 and Wallace trade are Fitzgerald, Ferguson, Gettys, and Zeferjahn

Fitzgerald is 28.5. Didn't there use to be a cut off around 25-26 for prospects?
