Apparently, Farrell said that Doubront's stuff is as good as anyone else's on the team, he just needs to have better control and work deeper into games. If he can figure it all out, he could be in for a very good year. Wish him the best.

I see a lot of similarities between him and Gio Gonzelez a few years back.

I see a lot of similarities between him and Gio Gonzelez a few years back. How so? Gio was a K-artist with control problems coming up, then hit the majors and saw a dip in K's and had some control problems. Doubie kept the walks under control for the most part coming up (A full BB/9 lower than Gio) and projected to be a Gavin Floyd type, but saw a jump in Ks when he hit the majors. Gio is just two years older than Doubie and has pitched in 128 games in the majors, as opposed to Doubie's 52. I'm not really seeing it.

doubront could be a full year ahead of where he is now, considering he basically lost 2011. he was injured and out of shape coming into that year, after making the bigs in 2010. but he has turned it around for the most part last year and can now keep moving forward

I just feel Iglesias defense is good enough to start regardless of his bat. To me he is an above average SS right now

That was hit on turf with Reyes running too. Really nice play. Iglesias looked like he was favoring his arm after the play though...

Iglesias makes a great play but he is clearly favoring his right arm. Hopefully he doesnt injure it further by continuing to play through the pain.

Iggy out, Ciriaco batting for him in the 4th.

It's so much fun to have guys in the order that actually put pressure on infielders with their speed. Bonifacio should have made both of those plays easily, but at the very least Victorino/Bradley with speed and hustling on routine ground balls lead to two errors

Plus it doesn't hurt that Bonafacio can't field any position. Even he appeared to be laughing at himself.

You know, I hate on Pedro "worst plate discipline in the major leagues" Ciriaco plenty, but he's a pretty solid backup infielder who plays good defense, has a bit of speed, and makes enough contact to not be totally useless at the plate. Basically a low-rent version of Mike Aviles being paid the league minimum.

There we go Napoli. Hell of a swing too. Down in the zone, knee barely off the ground and he hits a bullet

Drew pulled from rehab game. Might be an extremely short rehab stint now that Iglesias got hurt

Serious power. Low pitch, take it the other way, and it's basically a no-doubter ...

Basically a low-rent version of Mike Aviles being paid the league minimum. Agree totally. It infuriated me how much Valentine played him last year, but Ciriaco has an good set of skills for a backup. I don't love him as a backup to Iglesias, becuase their skills overlap quite a bit, but it's a minor quibble. As a backup to Drew/utility player/pinch runner he's a good fit.

Just about his only weakness, his complete refusal to take a walk, but it's a big one and really cuts onto his value.
On the plus side is the hard contact he always seems to make, and the fact he can back up every infield position and even play some outfield. For a starter he's a great utility guy.
