Could anyone see something like this going down? I'm thinking with it looking like Iggy will hit enough not to be an automatic out and STLs SS need and Tavaras waiting in AAA this could help both teams.

Probably not. Seeing as Drew cant be traded until June since he just signed with the Sox this off season

Where would Beltran even play? Would the Sox send JBJ down and keep Gomes on the bench?

A few things I should have mentioned. I dont think JBJ is going to be the LF once Ortiz comes back and I believe his heels will be an issue all year and we could use a power bat. As far as Iggy goes I'm basing my opinion more on reports of him having better ABs this spring and putting in a ton of time in the off season than the four games. I said I don't think he'll be an automatic out like a pitcher not a silver slugger.

Iglesias also gets hurt every year, and Drew has had his own share of health issues. I don't think punting depth at shortstop for an outfielder the team doesn't really need is a great idea.

As the year wears on I would expect Bogarts to become part of that SS depth. The Red Sox need another bat bat in that line up short-term and long-term need someone to play the OF. Unless you really like Bryce Brentz, there really aren't any projected starting corner OFs in the minors. Plus the corner OF market for free agents over the next couple of years isn't looking very good either with only Choo looking interesting. For that reason, I might be more inclined to do the deal for John Jay. Jay isn't as good a player as Beltran, but he's under control through 2016, better defensively and less injury prone. With him in the fold there is less pressure to possibly overpay for Choo or Ellsbury. Of course we can always hope that the Cards get desperate and trade Rosenthal for Drew, which I'd do in a heartbeat, but I'm not holding my breath.

How about Iglesias for Taveras? now thats a trade. You might be able to pull that off, except Julien has been out of baseball for a bit now

Drew and Bailey (Motte may be heading for Tommy John) for Matt Adams?

Drew and Bailey (Motte may be heading for Tommy John) for Matt Adams? I could see something like this going down but would rather not trade Bailey since he should be our closer next year. Despite his bad outing last night maybe Hanrahan+Drew for Adams? He is stuck on the bench in SL and could provide us with LH power once Ortiz hangs them up and probably take over at first after Napoli.
