Literally not a single person is acting like he’s a triple crown threat sar·casm /ˈsärˌkazəm/ noun the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. "his voice, hardened by sarcasm, could not hide his resentment” Not a single person is acting like he’s even an impact bat. You posted on-brand silly nonsense and you got ratioed, it’s fine

I don’t understand the infatuation with bulk relievers. Houck and Whitlock should both be starters. Whitlock is on an innings leash so they are going to have to ramp his innings up over time. That’s the only reason it makes sense that he in the role that he is right now. Hill and Wacha are only there to chew up innings the first few months. If they pitch better than expected they’re trade bait to make room for the guys we control for several years. Or they’re the ones who end up in the bulk relief role. Since the very best pitchers in baseball don't average 7 innings and the league average for innings pitched by a starter is 4 2/3s I would say that the infatuation with bulk relievers is here to stay and quite deserved.

Let’s leave the managing to Cora. JBJ has looked good. His defense is amazing and most of us real fans love him as a person and what he’s done for us in the past and we just want to see him do well. Your approach as a pitcher is completely different when you see the type of defensive effort that we had today. You can pitch to weak contact and not try to strike everyone out. You can pitch inside to lefties knowing if they pull the ball you got a gold glover in RF. There’s more to baseball then a batting AVG. I trust Cora and think he’s one of the best in the business. I just think he might get the dreaded “Marwin Syndrome” with JBJ and think he’s an everyday player at this stage. He’s not. He has a great glove while being one of the worst hitters in the league. He’s useful. But not 400AB’s useful. Silly me, I'm going to give it more than a week to make that call.

JBJ and Marwin are apples to oranges. Even if JBJ were hopeless, Cora has the team he has. Who else is there to start in RF? But beyond that, JBJ is not hopeless. He’s an elite glove who has looked spry at the plate. I am a big “the OF is not good enough” guy, so I *should* be bashing JBJ — but I am pleasantly surprised by the OF so far. Verdugo looks better than he’s ever looked. JBJ looks decent. Kiké is off to a bit of a slow start but is hardly standing out as a problem. I haven’t watched games so far and thought the OF was the clear problem.

This is me screaming lol

This is me screaming lol Not if he's batting below .200 he's not. I'm sure he'll save runs with his excellent defense but if the runs he saves on defense is dwarfed by the runs they don't score because he's not adequate enough offensively, then that's a huge problem. If he saves more runs than he costs them offensively, then they'll be fine, but I'd say the jury is very much out on that and there's reason to be concerned about it.

Son-of-a… yellow jerseys AND no Eck. Easter ruined.

Obviously not ideal but I think with pitchers at least they can try to schedule the rotation to avoid the non-vaccinated guys in Toronto without necessarily needing to skip starts too often.

Dalbec is playing good defence, let's hope he keeps getting better

I have resigned myself to Dalbec being… this. In a few months, Casas can take 1b, and maybe Bobby can be packaged with a few pieces to fill whatever the biggest need is.

Good job Dave O'Brien.
Wacha has not allowed a hit. There's a hit up the middle on the next pitch.
It's not so much that I believe in superstition. It's his disdain for baseball fans who do that annoys the f'ing hell out of me.
Remember, Devers is terrible defensively and has no shot of not being a DH even though he just caught a popup right around where the CF usually stands.

Flash Gordon in his first game as a radio color guy. Tons of insights about pitching and some great stories. Talking about how much Eck taught him about pitching when they were teammates.

It's almost getting to a point where it feels like catchers need their own DH.
