After fanning Story, Gaussman now has 15 Ks and 0 BBs in 11 IP this season.
This is not your older brother's Kevin Gaussman.

Hopefully this is a reverse jinx, but this lineup suggest pretty poor depth. Shaw is not a major leaguer anymore. I like Arroyo, but he seems like a desperation 4th OF. It is hard to see with one guy hurt how *this* becomes the lineup. I agree and called out before the season I thought the depth was thin, but this post is a little misleading in that it's one guy hurt plus Kiké sitting. If that weren't the case Shaw doesn't need to play, Arroyo is a solid enough player at first, right or second. But there's usually going to be a guy who's injured, and there's usually going to be a guy Cora sits. You can't judge the lineup by its ideal form but by the guys who actually get the PAs.

Gotta hit Gausman's FB early. Once he goes to that splitter it's nearly impossible to differential from them out of his hand.

Nibbling with a #8 or #9 hitter is beyond annoying. Walking one of these guys is ridiculous. These should be free outs 80+% of the time. Attack. Attack. Attack.

...And the lead-off walk to the .000 AVE #8 guy scores. Who could've seen that coming?

Each team goes through dead zones. Welcome to the first 2022 Red Sox Dead Zone. Defense iffy, pitching iffy, offense pretty much AWOL. And COVID is knocking at the door again.

Is Shaw kidding? You get into a 2-0 count and *then* you bunt? At that point just hit the fastball.
Edit: Was not a fastball. You get it.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a team that sees this few pitches in ABs. It’s truly astounding how quickly we rack up outs.

Followed by Arroyo's check swing groundout and Story's swinging at balls outside the zone to strike out. Fun inning!

I don't see it here yet, so I'll say it: AC tested positive, isn't managing today, and won't be going to Tampa.
EDIT: Apparently one of his twins had it, so maybe got it from her. Has been staying in a hotel in Boston because his kid had it.

Fair lol. I can't fully justify when I have faith in this man, but I do. He did look he was putting it together the last week or so before he got sent down last year and he's done nothing but pound on the door in AAA.

Video and analytics isn't just for hitters. The ball coming out of his hand looks the same, no matter what pitch he's throwing.

Alright, I'm grabbing a bat. I promise you I will be late on the fastball so at least I won't be able to pull anything into the shift.

If he is showing signs of life, trade him.

Was curious so I checked on this, the Red Sox are indeed the league lagger in pitches / PA at 3.72. In 2021 the Royals were the lagger in baseball at 3.79, the lagger was also at 3.79 in 2019 and 2018.
