Lopez went 3-3 with a HR and two walks. Hottest hitter in the system right now, after being the coldest hitter in the system last week.

Lopez went 3-3 with a HR and two walks. Hottest hitter in the system right now, after being the coldest hitter in the system last week. It was his first week of games and was facing pitchers in their 3 or 4th A Ball outings while having just few Florida back fields at bats under him, it’s totally normal that he’ll struggle. First Week:25 PA, 1 BB, 15 K, 0 XBH 2nd Week:20 PA, 4 BB, 0 K, 3 XBH In his 3rd at bat today you can see that he finally found his rhythm: Took 2 borderline called strikes but didn’t expand while working from behind fouling 2 pitchs then lacing a line drive to CF. He’s one of the most polished hitters in the system and I’m expecting him to leapfrog Gilberto Jimenez in the rankings pretty soon.

He got assigned straight to Salem out of extended last year, but then got hurt. He's had some bad timing and bad luck with injuries, but I personally think he has the most upside of anyone outside the top 20 prospects. He's the only person outside the Top 30 where I could see everything clicking and him ending up in or around the top 10 within a year. Not sure "polished" is quite the word I'd use for him, but he's not as raw as a lot of guys with that kind of profile. Someone to watch, definitely.

I just pulled some stuff from the gameday thread to create an Eduardo Lopez thread. I want to touch on this because he similarly came out of the gates with a poor start last year in Salem too. First three games: 13 PA, 1 BB, 8 K, 0 XBH Next six games: 30 PA, 7 BB, 7 K, 1 XBH ...and then his season was shut down. Never really hit for authority in his 9 game cameo but his approach stats improved tremendously after a putrid 3 game start to his Low-A career. Nice to see him with a couple of HR early this year. He looks fairly strong on film/social media so hoping he has a nice all-around game including average-ish power.

I'll have to follow his progression closer.
