Dalbec, Barnes are going to be shipped out soon or later.
X with Boras will be gone as well.

I was reading the NESN and WEEI Red Sox articles this morning - odd, not a single mention of Barnes' nightmare appearance. I do expect to see a transaction soon with him heading to the WooSox to work this out (if he can), with Valdez or Kutter coming back up. At least they can throw strikes and could finish out a game like last night.

Eventually, between Mata, Bello, and perhaps Sale, or even Paxton, or German, Barnes' spot on the roster will be taken. This can't go on indefinitely. It's not like if he gets sent down some team is going to claim him or whatever. Barnes can get it figured out. They just need to DL him with some phantom injury and work on it for a while. It’s more mental, I think. He needs to get his head right. Barnes has over 5 years of service time, so optioning will not work , but DL is more likely. I hope the Red Sox do it sooner than later.

Barnes with iffy command, but just dialled up 96. And...walked two men. Got to be in his head - this is a very "yips" sort of thing he is going through, I think. i don't know. He just hasn't been that good a pitcher from the beginning. Some great stretches, yes, but nothing to write home about. This is the thing about relievers - they can look amazing, even for a whole season, and it's still just a small sample size. And it's rarely aa good idea to hand out a big contract for that.
Martin Perez has a 1.60 ERA in 56 IP. That's basically elite closer-level performance, for an elite closer's full-season workload (and even more impressive to do it as a starter). But does anyone expect him to keep it up for another 100 IP? Of course not. But it's more impressive than anything that, say, Jansen or Kimbrel have done since 2017.

He’ll hit the market at 30, so nobody will give him an absurd Corey Seager-type deal. How many big market teams need a SS? LAA? STL? That might be about it. The Sox might end up being competitive on this one.

Re: Barnes. The dude lost more 4 mph on his fastball that was already mediocre in terms movement to begin with. He’s a fly ball pitcher with command and control problems who can’t miss bats anymore, he’s washed up and should be DFA’d as soon as they deem German/Maya/any young arm ready. As Mike Tomlinson said “ Never say never but never!”
