Looks like Brandon Howlett has been sent down to Greenville. They’re continuing the outfield experiment though. He’s starting in right field for Greenville tonight.

Are Shane Dothan and Jay Groome really that different?

Depending on how much we trust the MiLB.com pitch sequences, Uberstine may or may not have just thrown an immaculate inning.

Are Shane Dothan and Jay Groome really that different? Skills-wise? Groome's command is better when it's at its best, and his 3rd/4th pitches are probably a little better than Drohan's, but I think that's a good and fair observation. Both of them have smooth deliveries too, I think Drohan's is even lower-effort than Groome's. Physically? They are quite different. ---- EDIT: The changeups in the video posted below are much, much better than the ones I saw from him this spring.

I’m no expert…but how in the world is Drohan’s change up a “fringe to average “ potential? That looks at least plus to better for me.
14ks in less than 6 innings is incredible, one of the best pitching performances in years in our system

Pitchers can also have good days and bad days with their stuff. A lot of different factors that can explain that away I’m most impressive with getting 30-something swings and misses. I’ve never heard of anything like that

Double header in Buffalo today? Any idea who’s pitching which game? I may head down to one.

Not unlike the 24 hits the DSL Blue team had vs DSL LAD. Maybe that's on the other team's pitchers...
There was a lot of excitement about the Greenville hitters in the first week of the season when they beat up on a bad Asheville pitching staff in the Tourists' bandbox. Turns out the whole lineup wasn't going to carry 1.000+ OPSs all season.
Another note on Drohan's start: He was actually outpitched by his opposite number who struck out 10 in six innings of one-hit, no-walk ball (the one hit was a homer by Matthew Lugo).

Yeah I'd give Drohan the better curve and change based on last night. Way more athletic. Both don't have good command of the FB but Groome's is a little better. Drohan is sneakily having a pretty good year. If the changeup is legit, then that changes his outlook for sure.
