Over the years when we had prospects to graduate they were at the same level pretty much. It is nice that the talent is spread around.

We'll be announcing those around the start of October. Good timing on the Worcester thing, we discussed exactly that today (and agreed).

Kavadas with his 100th walk this season today! Greek God of Walks or Chicken Man/Boggs Jr. Has Boston ever had a minor league player play at 3 levels, hit 25 taters and walk 100 times in a season before?

Hartford lost their 5th straight to Somerset, preventing Portland from making progress on the playoff clinch ... thus, keeping Hartford alive for the playoffs.
Coincidence? 5 losses in a row, each one helping their playoff chances ...

Looked up pretty much every top prospect you could imagine, and even the weird one offs (looking at you 2007 Aaron Bates),and didn't find any that fit the 3 level qualifier.

Some scrub named David Ortiz came withing 5 walks of it in 2008, tho I guess he played most of his time in Boston

Kavadas with his 100th walk this season today! Greek God of Walks or Chicken Man/Boggs Jr. With all due respect to Kavadas, who has been awesome this year, I would encourage you to peep Boggs' minor league strikeout numbers. And then I leave us all to ponder how weird baseball was 43 years ago that they made him repeat Double-A after posting that line.

Marcelo Mayer up to .452/.553/.710 this month. Is it just me or is Mayer somehow kind of getting kind of lost in the shuffle? Not saying the board is down on him or anything but he doesn't really seem to get talked about much recently for how excellent he's been doing.

The ridiculous thing was that there was talk of releasing Boggs but then there would thankfully be a voice that would speak up to shoot the idea down. They focused more on what he couldn't do rather than what he could, exceptionally, which was to hit, draw a lot of walks, get on base a ton, and make contact. Instead they focused on his lack of power, his lack of speed, and shot down his defense. Only a home plate collision between incumbent Red Sox 3b and defending batting champ Carney Lansford and Tigers catcher Lance Parrish, resulting in a Lansford injury gave Boggs the opportunity to play and despite initially struggling defensively, he went out and batted .349 in 338 ABs, and forced the Sox to keep him in the majors. Before long he improved his defense to the point of being above average and in the juiced ball year he showed his power hitting 24 HRs in what was his 4th of 5 batting titles. But it all came so close to never happening because of how talent and performance was judged 40 years ago. Thankfully it happened and as a kid I had the fun of computing Wade Boggs' season and lifetime batting average after each AB, and believe me it was crazy to be able to compute a lifetime BA of .350 plus after 3000 plus ABs.
