This is trade idea, I will keep it concise. Stephen Drew for Matt Adams. Iglesias is improving offensively and would take Drew's place. Matt Adams has no place to play in St. Louis other than pinch hitting. Adams has done very well so far this year and has great minor league numbers. The Cards do not have a good shortstop. Assuming Drew would accept the trade, he could be traded for Adams and Adams could be Depth at 1B or DH this year and with Napoli gone next year, he could be the long term solution at 1B.

I doubt the Cards would do that but I would love Adams. I think it's more likely they trade Beltran to either put Craig in the OF and Adams at 1B or even go with Tavaras. I do think we match up pretty good with them though.

It's a good framework- both teams dealing from a position of surplus. Would take another piece from Sox to get it done- likely a Ranaudo/Workman type prospect (i.e 10-15ish).
I think Iglesias for Adams straight up would be fair for both (not that I advocate for it, just pointing it out)

speaking of Ranaudo, he has been very solid in his first two starts in Double-A Portland this year. Maybe he is turning a corner after last year and becoming a very good Starting Pitching prospect. He is rule-5 eligible after this year, but if he has a good year, he will be added to the 40-man for sure. In addition, Workman has been very solid too. these are guys who I see can be making the majors by the end of this year.
