Predictions for the season? Honestly, boringly, I think we'll end up about the same as last year. 50 wins, some lows with new coach, some highs where we're the best team in NBA, and a fight to ECF or Finals. If Brogdon and Time Lord can be healthy in the playoffs and Horford doesn't disintegrate, we should be in better shape than last year. I hope they pace themselves in early going and Tatum/Horford/Brown get rest, since last season was the longest of all their careers and all (maybe with the exception of JB) were feeling it at the end.
I don't think Tatum is ready to make the MVP Votes leap.

I actually think the key is Jaylen Brown.
Kinda hard to make predictions given how little we know about the coach. Yet I've been pleasantly surprised so far. We'll have a better idea after tonight.
I just don't worry about Tatum. For me it's a given he grows and improves. It's Jaylen Brown finally unlocking his potential and stoping those bone head moments he always seems to have.
The good news is that by going small you really help the offense and get your best players on the floor. The bad news like we've seen before and this preseason is rebuilding. Till Robert Williams comes back, it needs to be all hands on deck.

Hope Blake/Horford can hold the fort down and Grant can go earn himself an RFA windfall. REALLLY worried about the team getting overworked early.

It's why I'd dump Jackson and go get Favors or WCS, likely picking Favors for his rebounding.

Timelord now out until 2023 sucks. But if it means he’s fully healthy it will be worth it

Wow. Just breathe on Harden and it's a foul. Horrible.

Brown and Tatum pretty damn brilliant tonight (Celts up 12 with 6 min to go)
Smart just fine - Horford and White not huge factors.
Brodgan a great addition, Grant a super game - and Vonleh adding real value.

Offense looked great
The leagues officiating on Embiid is a disgrace. They give him everything

Good win but a technical on Tatum give me a break, they rescinded the original foul. That’s the funniest thing.

My take away from this game is I hope Brogdon can stay healthy. He gives a real 3rd option. In todays NBA you need scoring depth and that means usually means guys who can create their own offense (or be a lights out shooter). The Celtics haven’t had that - they’ve only had guys who can get hot (Horford, Smart, Grant, even White), which is great and all, but having someone who can actually be consistent helps a great great deal. Especially, if that guy will come off the bench. Even better he’s got size and can play defense and create for others too. That’s going to be so important.

A couple push offs, a couple flops, it was so soft. Between he and Harden it’s annoying to watch. Offense did look good though. Needs more Brogdon and less White, but I think that’ll sort itself out as Brogdon gets acclimated.

This roster is crazy deep if Vonleh plays like he did last night.

Timelord now out until 2023 sucks. But if it means he’s fully healthy it will be worth it This is very concerning. Williams had surgery AND now needs PRP? That suggests that the surgery was not fully corrective....I don't know how effective PRP is...helpful, but curative? I worry that Williams will have repetitive issues this year and beyond.

It was baked into his extension, but I'd really hoped he'd gotten over the hump given how great/available he was the last 1/3 of the season.

I went into the game looking at the issues we had in playoffs and asking did we fix those? Have players grown, etc. I don't know because it was one of those good shooting nights. Van Gundy is going on about how good the Sixers offseason was, I'm not impressed. The defense was great and that gave them tons of fast break points. Yet Brown did so many of the same stupid things. Brogdon was good, yet anyone like his ability against the full court press? Vonleh was okay, yet that's more because the Sixers offense was rather bad. They can't get Embiid the ball where they should, he still likes to take three's and they couldn't make us pay for doubling him every play. Part Embiid, part they don't seem to know how to build a team around him. The Sixers seem to have gone backwards, if they didn't get Maxey OMG it would be bad.
Good win being first game, not the great test I thought it would be. I don't know what Doc Rivers is thinking with that offense and grouping of players. Where's the deadly shooters to make you pay for doubling Embiid? Where's the ball movement to test Vonleh on D? Next game against the Heat should tell us more, they know how to actually move the ball and breakdown a defense.
I won't read much into no Pritchard given the Sixers play big, yet that's a waste if it continues. Also not a fan of Hauser one minute subs, give the guy a chance.
Before anyone says anything I'm looking at this team through the light of being a top contender and winning a championship. They are clearly going to be really good, the question is how good.

PRP is great, but it’s limited in the US. I wish he went to Panama to work with one of the US teams there who are allowed to do better things than they can in the US. But yes those injections can cure a lot.
