Tyler Miller activated off of the Greenville IL (Kier Meredith to the IL is the countermove).

Rafaela just missed a bonkers catch in the gap, but McDonough made a pretty good one

Nick Yorke drew his 10th walk already (38 PAs) Last year he walked 33 times in 373 PAs. He’s baaaaack!

Bleis 3/3 1r 1rbi in the 5th.
Edit: the Salem 5th inning was bonkers with 8 runs scored and errors by the other team.

Sooooo I really was hoping I was reading that wrong but it looks like Mata has thrown 81 pitches so far this outing and only 37 of them have been strikes. What has happened to his command?

Mayer ran into an out at home (from 2nd base) after a good hit from Jordan.

Nick Yorke with HR #2 of the year. He's been pretty solid to start the year.

Those who wrote Yorke off after last year forget how awesome he was in 2021: - He was dominating the strike zone: Having one of the highest walk rates in Low A while having one of the highest swinging percentages, meaning that he was selectively agressive. - He was dominant vs top rated pitching prospects (I wrote an extensive post with gifs in his thread) - He had an all field approach, lacing line drives from foul line to foul line. I remember Ian witnessing him turning on 96 mph fastball up and in and sending it 450 ft over the Monster in Fluor Field. He also hit a bunch of opposite field homers. There’s only Romero who can challenge him for the best pure hitter in the farm. 2022 was the fluke not 2021.

Is Ronald Rosario a guy? I’m very intrigued
Nice little outing for Isaac Coffey
Wilyer is on the board with his 1st homer
Still need way more strikes from Mata but good on him for getting through an effective 5

Is Ronald Rosario a guy? I’m very intrigued Was about to praise him for throwing out 4 of 10 baserunners but he gave up 11 SB tonight lmao
Very weird path for him so far. Small bonus but it seemed like they thought something of him at the start of his DSL season but he's injured after a few games. He makes it to the FCL and is a total afterthought starting 6 games, 4 of them at 1B. And now he's the starting C in Salem and off to a solid start?

It's also a lesson that it is unwise to not take into consideration the affect injuries play. The notion that an injury didn't require surgery so it's no big deal is shortsighted. Nagging injuries, recurring injuries and series of minor injuries can have a big impact and probably more so if a players tries to grind through them.

The 0.01% chance that Yorke reverts to 2021 form and comes up to fill the Sox second base hole towards the end of the season is fun to think about.
