Dave O’Brien needs to be better at giving the count and situation without the graphic.

This is the part where I say how great Tanner Houck looks and some Debbie Downer here tells me he sucks the third time through the order. 😀
Separately, another great throw by Wong.

7 swing and misses in 2 innings for Houck. Much better than his last outing.
Wong continuing the good pop times too. Love it

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Connor Wong is actually good.

Can't feel good when the defense is walking off the field and you kinda just gotta stand there at 2nd waiting for the bad news

I totally disagree with this claim. He moves slowly, yes. But his actions are baseball-like, as it is taught: fielding, throwing, running. He hustles. He is alert. I do not understand the need to constantly disparage this team's players. Come on, dude's not Mike Trout. He sucks. Yoshida sucks? I would hate to hear how all the other players on the team are doing then haha

It's funny because his leads are always tiny and yet he still struggles to get back. In basically every other way than swinging the bat he is a pretty bad baseball player, but the good news is he sure does know how to swing the bat! I totally disagree with this claim. He moves slowly, yes. But his actions are baseball-like, as it is taught: fielding, throwing, running. He hustles. He is alert. I do not understand the need to constantly disparage this team's players. Lol I'm just being honest here. "Alert" and "baseball-like" are not the bars to clear for being a good player. Basically every major leaguer, even the bad ones, should do that.
He has poor speed and reacts slowly to fly balls. 1st percentile OF jump, 23rd percentile speed. That combines to 11th percentile OAA thus far in LF, and since OAA is a cumulative stat it would probably look worse if he didn't spend some time DHing. Not including today's game where he was just picked off first base, he has been the worst baserunner on the team by a wide margin. He has -2.2 BsR on the year. Turner is next closest with -1.1 BsR. He does have average arm, so I'd credit him for that.
Overall he's an elite hitter but an atrocious defender and baserunner. That's just how it is.

These guys need to see more pitches. Walker is in a groove and is being fed outs now.

66 total pitches through 3 innings. 30 for Houck, 36 for Walker.

Both lineups having basically identical results at the plate and on the bases so far.

He has been an atrocious baserunner, but I'm not convinced he necessarily will be permanently. He looked pretty good early on the bases then lost a lot of value when his hamstring got hurt. He generally I think has pretty good baseball awareness, and some of the worst baserunners in the league this year had neutral or slightly positive values last year. He's always gonna be slow, but it doesn't mean he has to be a massive negative on the basepaths permanently.

He looks very rough out there to me, but I'll cross my fingers that the hamstring has been a factor and things will improve.

Granted, Turner's grounder would have been a double play most of the time, but tell me we're out of the first three innings without telling me we're out of the first three innings.
