Is Hamilton that bad at defense? Dalbec as the backup middle infielder just feels awful Why do they need Hamilton if they have Valdez though? They need another righty.
Like julyanmorley said, I think the question is why Dalbec over Goodrum. Maybe they want to keep him in reserve in case of a Kiké injury?
Pretty impressive, by the way, that they now have four injured players at the two MI positions and still have passable depth to draw from.

They need someone who can play shortstop and second. Hamilton playing short against righties sounds good to me. Goodrum would be fine too, but they would have to DFA someone for that.

Maybe they'd rather have Dalbec as a bench bat? Maybe it's a development thing - they want Hamilton to stay focused on whatever he's doing in AAA?
I dunno, I wouldn't have complained if they had called up Hamilton or anything, but I can see as they might have their reasons.

But if Kiké or Valdez get hurt now Dalbec is playing shortstop? Feels like an outcome to avoid

Verdugo 9 Yoshida DH Tapia 7 Devers 5 Duran 8 Casas 3 Valdez 4 Hernandez 6 Wong 2 Probably won’t matter but just why?

I don’t understand going Dalbec over Hamilton here. Maybe a day off for Devers is forthcoming & they prefer Bobby vs JT at 3rd? JT looks very limited in the field.

Probably wonât matter but just why? How would you adjust the lineup? Iâd probably swap Tapia and Kiké just to break the string of lefties while also not feeling terribly good about it

Cora, why tf is Raimel Tapia hitting third? At least Hernandez is hitting 8th not 5th.

Probably won’t matter but just why? How would you adjust the lineup? I think that for everyone else you might bat 3rd, you risk messing with either the recent success of a crucial hitter, or with their struggles to have success. Whereas with Tapia the risk is low, and you might catch lightning in a bottle.

Probably won’t matter but just why? How would you adjust the lineup? I would not bat Devers, Duran, and Casas in a row. It gives an easy chance to throw a lefty without a righthanded bat breaking them up. But it doesn’t matter that much. Still seems unnecessary.

Why does anyone throw Tapia anything other than curveballs/offspeed in the dirt? He swings at them every single time.

Yoshida's gotta stay put at first, he doesn't run fast enough to take big leads and try to steal.

Yoshida's gotta stay put at first, he doesn't run fast enough to take big leads and try to steal. It's funny because his leads are always tiny and yet he still struggles to get back. In basically every other way than swinging the bat he is a pretty bad baseball player, but the good news is he sure does know how to swing the bat!

Be nice if Casas would start hitting a bit.

He moves slowly, yes. But his actions are baseball-like, as it is taught: fielding, throwing, running. He hustles. He is alert. I do not understand the need to constantly disparage this team's players.

Boy, Schwarber's 0 for his last 21. I like him; really hope he gets going... against Toronto on Tuesday.
