Here's from May 3: INF Adalberto Mondesi (torn right ACL) Expected return: June or later Mondesi was placed on the 60-day injured list on March 30, which makes him eligible to play for the Red Sox on May 30 at the earliest. However, he isn't going to be ready that soon. Manager Alex Cora said Mondesi is scheduled to come to Boston soon and meet with the team's medical staff. The key for Mondesi will be when he is cleared to start a Minor League rehab assignment. (Last updated: May 3) Turns out this source is constantly updated whenever there is news about anyone: www.mlb.com/news/red-sox-injuries-and-roster-moves

June/July is going to be a very interesting time for this lineup and roster w/ Story, Duvall, Chang and Mondesi all coming back around the same time.

I'd be surprised if he's back before August. And I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play at all this year.

In your defense, it’s easy to forget about a guy who’s never played a game for the organization(and doesn’t seem as if he WILL play any time soon). The lack of substantial updates surrounding Mondesi has been immensely frustrating. Latest report was that he was seeing doctors in Boston last week about being cleared for games, but there hasn't been any results revealed to what they said. Doesn't bode well for seeing Mondesi anytime soon. At this point, I think there's a better chance Chang comes back before him... Yes, given the lack of any solid updates and assuming he needs a full 30 days to ramp up and get acclimated to game action, I would guess July at the earliest at this point.

I wouldn't think he'd need a month of games. Every report I've seen says he's been doing baseball activities and it's not like as if he's a rookie.

Even if the Sox are seriously into the playoff hunt, they are likely to be sellers or 2 or 3 for 1 swappers at the deadline.

I believe that the talk of Story coming back early in the second half had him as a DH. (There would be plenty of playing time for Turner as a 10th player.) Which made sound sense at the time for a team that seemed to have nothing else in terms of dangerous RH hitters. You might remember me saying, before the injury, that a Kiké return to something like 2012 would be a big factor in the quality of the offense ... pretty much a need.
Then the killer D's happened. Duvall demonstrated how perfect a fit he was for Fenway, and the space aliens who had replaced Duran with an exact (but grossly inferior) duplicate a few years ago returned the real thing to us. So Duran has grabbed the 26-man spot that Story as a DH would have had, Duvall will fill his projected spot in the batting order, and with Duvall in LF, Yoshida fills the DH spot.
Hopefully it remains true that we don't need another RH bat, to DH or otherwise. I expect they'll try to bring Story back as a 2B, beginning 9/1.

Gotta agree, especially after the optics of last years half buyer/seller blowback they got last year. I honestly didn't have a problem with the strategy last year and don't want to rehash that again but I definitely see them being active buyers if they're still in the hunt come deadline time. I'm not saying they'll mortgage the farm for whoever ends up the biggest target on the market but just can't see them selling off.

Yeah, Story has a ton of value for this team as a middle infielder and none whatsoever as a DH (I'd take both Turner and Duvall over him). If you're right... well, a September 1st return would be nice insofar as it could get him ready for the playoffs, if that's in the cards, but I'm just not going to assume they get any contribution from Story at this point.

Do you know where you read this? That's not the reporting I remember, my understanding was he'd be back playing fully. Though it does make sense there'd be a gap between when he can swing and throw.

Our long not-The-Natural nightmare is over ...
Previous time I checked Kiké was the worst qualifying SS defender in MLB (38th of 38 in Success Rate Added) and Valdez was the worst 2B, minimum 10 attempts.
Now Kiké is 37th out of 38, and Valdez is 47th out of 49, minimum 25 attempts. Progress!

Pivetta looks like he's gonna be batting practice for this Braves offense

Good opportunity to see if we can get 7 2/3 out of Brasier?

There have been so many head scratching decisions to bring the infield in on the parts of the Sox and their opponents this year. It could just be what analytics say to do, but it is not intuitive at all. First inning with one out and runners at 2nd and 3rd, I really hate bringing the infield in.

This is why I can’t stand Pivetta. Way too often the game is over before it starts when he is on the mound

I’ve been a Pivetta guy. This is tough to watch, though. But… the Braves are like an All Star team. Crazy lineup.

It's command, it's always command.
Example of a trade candidate. (for a non 40 man prospect)
