Huh. Gotta wonder if the Sox think they have a trade partner for Tapia - otherwise, I'm not sure how Tapia instead of Valdez to Worcester makes much sense.

A little interesting. Wonder if this is setting up a Tapia trade for slight salary relief? This could mean Duran up for the remainder of the season too.

I guess they like Pablo Reyes versatility more if they are keeping his 40 man spot for now.

Dont like that move. I'll be the first to say I was wrong. I figured they'd find a way to keep him on the roster.
I know others said his skill set was redundant with Duran around and apparently Bloom agreed.
I think he's different in that I think it's a disservice to Duran to have him in the 4th OF role of he is to truly blossom. He needs to play every day. I get Duvall is back and they'll hand him back which I dont prefer for him.
I probably would have sent down Valdez who doesnt play against lefties, is starting to struggle, and is not good defensively and then simply call him back up 10 minutes later when Arroyo inevitably winds up on the IL again.
I liked how Tapia could come off the bench and be a good PH or could run or play defense. He's an excellent backup. And they're dumping him to make room temporarily for Arroyo, and with Arroyo it's always temporary while reducing Durans time. Will be harder for him to fully develop if he's a 4th OF and he still shows why he has a pretty good ceiling.
So a lot of people here were right and I was wrong but it doesn't mean that I agree with the move. He was excellent at his role.
I guess that's a big vote of confidence for Casas because I figure it was either his time or Durans time that was getting reduced.

I'll bet we see Kiké in CF and Reyes at SS today

Guess Cora finally had enough of Kiké at SS. Guess Reyes is the biggest winner on this. He gets to be the regular SS. Makes sense at this point.

I could see a rotation of Duvall, Kiké and Duran in CF & LF with Yoshida getting more time @ DH.

Tapia gives the team something different. He was one of the few in the lineup (when he plays) I've enjoyed watching this year.

Weâll see - they are facing a LHP today. I look at it as they picked Reyes at SS vL over starting either Duran or Tapia in CF against lefties. Before Arroyoâs return, they had to start both Reyes and Kiké in the infield vL. We donât know what theyâre going to be doing vR.

Tapia was good for them this year, but 97 PAs of good production shouldn't distract you from the fact that he's a 29-year-old minor league free agent with a career 0.5 WAR/600 PA. With Arroyo coming back today (shifting Kiké to CF more often) and Duvall coming back later in the week, there just wasn't playing time available for him.

At the beginning of the season I wasn't a fan of Tapia on the roster but he won me over. His energy was a great spark plug for us and now with Duvall coming back I was hoping they'd find a way to keep him on the roster

I'm with you, wildsox. I love his energy, and he knows how to use his speed. A good player. I like Arroyo too. But he is SO fragile.

Tapia gives the team something different. He was one of the few in the lineup (when he plays) I've enjoyed watching this year. Agreed. My concern is that Duran looks to have regressed back to his old version. Bad outfield play and swinging away at bad pitches (I think the league caught on to his early season success).

So with Tapia gone, Ort wins the hair contest. But when he goes...who? I don't like this...😁

Not surprised but I do not like it. Duran is feeling like Dalbec to me more and more each day. Tapia would be a better fit for role player going forward.

Yeah keep in mind they needed a 40-man move later in the week for Duvall anyway. With how much work the bullpen is getting it wasn't gonna be a pitcher. Thursday's starter is TBD and might be Dermody on a one-start-and-DFA situation.
Honestly, if Abreu's hamstring injury isn't bad, I wonder if he's played himself onto the depth chart.
